So I am supposed to be jamming with a drummer and a violinist this Saturday who are in a technical death metal band. Never hear of the shit but it sounds awesome. Dude crushes shit on that violin! I want to introduce him to some pedals, but he likes things with less bottom end for the violin. Any suggestions? He's using a Boss Metal Zone right now. Which is fine, but come on. Fuck Boss.

I saw a violinist use a whammy and delay along with distortion. When he swept that + 2 octaves on his high E string that whistle tone shredded through the mix. I was glad to have ear plugs and be near the back of the club.

I got no hatred for good Boss pedals, but if you want an alternative to the HM-2, the Idiotbox Dungeon Master is awwwwwwwwwwesome. An if he's not looking for low end, a Devi Ever US would probably sound sick on violin. And what about delay or modulation? Phaser on violin could be cool. Or flange, on an extreme marbles-on-metal setting.
