Which bridge is that? I have the Staytrem and havn't had a single issue. The machined in radius is just lovely. However that looks pretty bad ass. The staytrem is quite a bit wider of a bridge which is the ony downside for me, bridge covers won't fit, bridge covers are my jive.

That's a Mastery. I bought the Warmoth Modified Mustang bridge and it works great as well.Psyre wrote:Which bridge is that? I have the Staytrem and havn't had a single issue. Much cheaper than both the Mastery and Staytrem too

Got mine.
Sounds great, but there was a crapload of fret buzz above the 5th fret or so. Raised the action a bit and it's mostly been cured. Low E string is flappy as shit as I expected also, may try to tune it a bit higher to compensate. Are there any other essential setup tips for this thing?

Play it a while before spending money or making radical adjustments.
You may find that it's perfectly serviceable.
That said, if you're intending to tune below standard, good luck.
I have no idea on that, as I've never been tune down 900 steps guy, and well, even if I was, the VI gets me there well below any normal guitar.
Also like any other electric, make sure that all your standards for buzz etc are when the thing is plugged in and audible through the amp, not sitting there playing acoustically.

For the low E a medium scale 0.095" bass string gives me good tension, if you can't be bothered to get a whole new set. I'd definitely recommend a thicker low E though, makes a world of difference.

Nah, I'll be keeping it in standard the majority of the time I think. I've seen a bunch of people get new bridges, but I'm gonna see if I can get rid of the fret buzz via the truss rod/minute action adjustments. How it stands now is either I have action a bit higher than I'd like with not too much fret buzz, or the action exactly how I like with shitloads of fret buzz. The low E string's tuning goes to shit after the 12th fret also. For right now the only thing I'll be getting is a black pickguard and a new low E string as suggested.
I'm not a tune 50 octaves below A guy either. Bass Vi will be used mostly for Labradford esque stuff.

I got the fanciest bridge around, and I'm still working out the action. It's pretty high and still buzzing. Setups have never been my strong suit, but there's nobody around here who I can trust with anything trickier than a strat.

I'm using my venerable ancient padded Jazz bag when I need to do something with it.
Inexpensive+offset: just buy something bigger and make do. Heavy padding there and careful handling is your friend.

Never heard from the shop if they were going to hold mine until I'm back home though.
I guess I'll find out in two weeks

The one I received had at least 6 high frets throughout the neck that led to unstoppable buzz. No bridge or relief or string height adjustment would stop it. Had to be fixed/leveled by my local luthier under warranty and now it's buzz free.aen wrote:I got the fanciest bridge around, and I'm still working out the action. It's pretty high and still buzzing. Re: BASS VI - Squier Vintage Modified?! - DEMO!! pg12
So just found out my local shop is holding my Bass VI until I'm home in a couple weeks!
From reading this thread, I know that when I go to check it out/pick it up I should look out for some shoddy nuts and buzzing along the fretboard. Anything else I should look out for?
I already know that I'll be buying a new bridge; probably going to put my Warmoth Modified Mustang on here and buy a Staytrem for my Jazzy.
Also any tips on building a balanced custom set of Bass VI strings from LaBella to avoid the floppy E?
