So I've got this Vintage Modified Squier Tele' Thinline, and I just LOVE it ! It's the guitar that made me love music, playing etc..
I recently got a Fender Telecaster American special and just love the neck pickup (texas special, sooo twangy) ! But now when i play my Squier, the neck pickup sounds so weak (and kind of crappy tbh) compared to it; so I thought i'd change it to something fatter, warmer, "bigger" .. (I've always loved Jack White for example so i've been thinking that with a 'bucker or a P90 i might get closer to the fatter tones he uses (also so i can simply have a more versatile guitar sound))
So changing the Squier VM's neck pickup, is this the way to go?
I've found these so far (only looked through Seymour Duncan so far)

those are very different from each other. The "mini" is a firebird pickup which are aimed towards a fender like sound…. they are really punchy sounding in a fender type guitar.
second is basically a P90 in a bucker shape. I have some of those model and like them a bunch, I have a normal shaped P90 in the neck position on my tele and love the contrast with the tele bridge.

Is the P90 kind of loud, heave, "fat" sounding (sorry for asking noobie questions, i'ts the first time i've looked into changing pickups!) ?Mudfuzz wrote:those are very different from each other. The answer to your question is yes
On the other side of the coin… you do know it takes a bigger hole then a tele pickup right?

My vote is the Phat Cat. I've got one in the neck of my Tele and I'm never turning back:
A few words to describe it: balls, growl, woody, fat
