I'm putting on a show - INPUT NEEDED!

I have put on a couple of events at an alternative venue that were really successful. Everybody is right about connecting this with a student group, fundraising is a good idea. The thing is about doing it in the summer, there will be less students around. Make sure that artist performing that are not a part of the student group, get paid a bit, even $20. Don't want to pimp them out. If the fundraising was for something else (ex. Syrian Refugees), then it is a fundraiser where everyone donates their time/effort, a student group seems different to me though.
The events that I did had art on display, some poetry, stand-up comedy and a variety of music. Yours is definitely more focused so if you are working with a music related student group, contact a visual art group to display art, maybe there is a group that is into projection, dancers, etc. You can then fill a lot of the crowd with their friends. Since you know where the ambient scene is you can definitely tie them in. Your job is to have a vision, paint the picture to whomever you talk to, be open to other's ideas and suddenly this event will grow a life of it's own. Definitely delegate responsibility, no need to micromanage stuff or else it isn't fun.
When I put on those events all I had was a PA, I was part of a band, I knew a lot of people and I had an idea.
