take carefulls breux. My wife had/has some weight issues. She also runs ultramarathons. It's a fine line between expressing a desire for a "real" "strong" woman and her hearing "you're fat."

Well, I dropped it via text, and she didn't get, and when I explained it complete with reference pic, she was more interested in her hair, as my wife is looking for new ideas to get her hair done this week and has been on the lookout for new styles.
She is sensitive about her weight, but it doesn't matter what I say anymore. If she's in the mood to find a problem with it, she will.
Not that I'm a prick about it or anything.

AngryGoldfish wrote:The right compressor will definitely mimic that sound. The Fairfield Circuitry The Accountant has the fat and bold tone of a pushed Matamp that's still clean, but has been rounded by volume, natural sustain and compression. It's not as dark or woolly like a Matamp, but it's in the right ballpark. The Pigtronix Germanium Philosopher's Tone might get you that sound better.
Cool - I really should check out a compressor sometime. Maybe try and find a cheapie Boss CS-3 locally to see if the effect is for me at all.
The CS-3 doesn't quite have the same effect as other compressors, but I guess it would give you a rough idea. If you can find an MXR compressor you'll get a better idea of what I'm talking about.
t-rey wrote:Also, here is a clip of the Kilobyte I recorded at stupid low volumes using my iPhone last night. Not the best quality, but you get the point. Rig was Ampeg GVT15h, 2x12, SG Classic.

Clip starts with Kilobyte, then Echobox w/vibrato, Echobox w/chorus, and Echobox w/o mod.

Oooh, that is lush as fuck! My interest is piqued. It works really well and isn't gimmicky at all.

i can't imagine i'll ever be in another band with only one guitarist. so much better sounding and so much more fun from a songwriting perspective to have two. not only is there the sonic benefit of having the tones from the two different rigs, but the possibilities with harmonies and counterpoint add so so much to what you can achieve sonically, be it heaviness or emotion of any kind or cool clean passages. far far beyond what could be reasonably accomplished by one dude, even with a looper or two. plus, two sets of ears can be a really good thing for dialing in a good guitar sound.
Plus it takes a huge weight off of your shoulders when you have a second guitarist, especially if you're the lead vocalist and the main composer for the band. I don't know if I'd want to take that roll again. I'm not as young and hardy as I used to be.

Not that I'm up to snuff with those guys but I use a 72' Tele Custom (I stick to the Broadcaster single coil bridge pickup) for pretty much everything except the super mellow stuff. For much of my rock, metal and blues I use the Tele in C tuning. For super heavy stuff that requires endless sustain and distortion, plus smoother jazz tones I use the Ibanez glued-in neck tuned to Drop C. For everything else I use my standard tuning Guild or Strat.

If you're going for a traditional Tele pickup, find a Broadcaster clone for cheap. It's one of the early 50's designs and absolutely rips. It's more like a P90 than a modern Tele pickup, just crisper and sharper.

Yeah, two of my old guitarists both use Teles, too. They're fucking awesome.

Cool, thanks for the info guys. I can't wait to get my tele in working order and see how it sounds within our sound. If it turns out alright I might go ahead and put together the warmoth telemaster. Might have to sell off a few pedals I have sitting around to get some funds in order.
