How is selling gear on eBay?
I'm considering listing my Kramer I've been trying to sell on eBay. Usually I'd avoid it because I'd rather do somewhere like here but it's not going anywhere so I figure I'd expand options.
Obviously there are better alternatives to eBay but I wanted to hear what you guys honestly thought about it.

Mixed bag of experiences for me, lately the bay has been giving me the shits though. Sorry I'm not much more help than that.

I did find a fee calculator so I know that much now, so I think all I have to hope for is some guy not trying to fuck me over. But as long as I list everything about it and describe it as is (which it will be) I should be fine right?

Re: How is selling gear on eBay?
if you can suck up the ebay fees than its great. ebay has been backing sellers more and more. out of the 400+ positive ebay sales ive had, ive only had one guy tell me he didnt receive item. item was listed usa only he was outa country, i got tracking number and customs number. dude left me bad feed back and had paypal refund him, i called ebay and gave them all the numbers and customs forms that inspected the item to show it shipped. i also provided the email saying i didnt want to take the risk sending it and dude assured me it was safe and it would be on him so i sent it. ebay refunded me all the $ instantly and erased the feed back. long story short 10 months later i opened my door and the package was sent back to me. i guess uguanda or some shit country he was in had a revolution and mail got all sorts of fucked and there was no mail system there for a year. i kinda felt bad cause i got paid, and the pedal back almost a year later but wtf would dude have me send a pedal to a country that is currently undergoing a revolution?! really the only thing as a seller you have to worry about is the god damn ebay fees. sometimes you get more taking it to guitarcenter or samash after ebay and shipping has they're way. it wouldnt be so bad if the subtracted the fees apon selling items, but they hit you with an invoice 2 months later when you prob spent all the money already. my 3rd consecutive ebay invoice over $1500 convinced me to stop using the bay. also starting this year your supposed to claim ebay sales on taxes. they sent me forms for last year. i was like WTF. so ebay fees, paypal fees, and taxes? fuck fuck fuck. fuck the bay.

Re: How is selling gear on eBay?
I haven't really had problems. It's just fees that aren't fun. I've never had problems with buyers or sellers other than catching listings that are totally dishonest or seem like they have no idea what they are talking about.
With pedals, I usually put them up for $10- $20 above the price I want as BUY IT NOW and then let buyers send Best Offers. Some people low ball like crazy but it generally ends up in a happy place. And then just let the fees come when they come. They sneak in at the end of the month and usually aren't horrible, but it still sucks. Also I don't ever pay for any extra shit like more pics, subtitles, whatever else there is.
(I haven't been on there in like a yearish so things may have changed since then. I only turn towards there when I've had a pedal here listed for more than a monthish.)

I've been watching the Kramer aluminum market on ebay for about a year now, really ever since I got that bass before you bought it. At the price you are selling it for, I have a feeling that you might be able to move it on ebay. It's kind of a mixed bag of bidding on aluminum Kramers there. Compared to the $1k+ some people are looking to get for yours, it's a steal. You MIGHT want to up the price a little bit to cover the fees, but even $600 for a 450B is good. Most of the 450B's have been priced a lot higher than that

Yeah, +1. Auctions tend to attract more flaky buyers so try listing it at a BIN or best offer price factoring in fees and a bit of haggle room.zRobertez wrote:I haven't really had problems. And if you ship something valuable, always pay for tracking with signature on delivery and update on ebay/paypal with the tracking number when you get it. that way if someone opens a case then they shouldn't win if it was actually delivered.
Contrary to a lot of other people here I've had really positive experiences with selling on ebay. Although ebay AU might function a little different to the US one, I dunno. Fees are shit though, i try and make one-time payments ASAP so i don't forget about them and end up overdrawing.

Re: How is selling gear on eBay?
ebay has really disapointed me lately. Non-paying buyers, buyers claiming item is damaged trying to scam for partial refund, Russian and Kazakhstani zero feedback scammy-seeming buyers being able to place bids even though auction was set up to not allow international, high fees, etc. I would try reverb myself.

eBay fucking sucks if you're selling anything bigger than a shoe box.
And the offers
Selling an item for $275? Be prepared to get an offer for $75, then $100.

Re: How is selling gear on eBay?
Increasingly expensive and stressful.
It was much closer to a level playing field when seller's could leave negative feedback on problematic buyers.
