One of the reasons we like the house we bought, covered grilling area. It's also nice as the wife and I don't smoke, but we don't have to ask guests to be out in the weather if they want to. I'm addicted to grilling. When we had an apartment I'd be out in the rain with tongs in hand regardless of how cold and wet it got
Reminds me I need to fire it up...
Been getting crazy rebuilding my board so its lower and has more of a two tier thing with better access to the power supply and more always on stuff can be below where it cant get messed with in transit.
Went a bit more in depth with the construction so it's not just bolted together.

The guy who owns most of the amp stuff at my studio just loaded up a marshall cab with 4 celestion golds. An expensive endeavor. I installed them and played with them for a bit just to make sure everything was working. So no extensive experience, just about a half hour of twiddling knobs on the marshall superlead. Overall they were nice but the more distortion I cranked from the marshall the more I didn't like the top end. A little too fizzy rather than the creaminess I was expecting. I tended to like sticking to the second channel which was lower gain. I need to play with the cab a bit more though since it is kinda rare to have a 4x12 loaded up with those speakers. He had some vintage greenbacks in there before and they sounded killler. He has another reissue cab but it is mdf and sounds kinda dull. I'm trying to connivence him to sell the reissue and buy a hardwood cab from avatar or someplace else and load the greenbacks into it.

I get off on the timbre being produced. I can get not liking helms as they have a different approach to songwriting, and if they didn't have that sound they do I might not like em so much. But holy shit Dana's bass tone has to be experienced, and then Ben goes from clean echoed stuff he does to the fuzz and starts yelling. Yeah. I like that.
And watching Hozoji play drums and belt out the vocals just makes me happy. You have to appreciate someone who obviously enjoys what they are doing that much.
On the flip side there are a few bands that people go nuts for, Converge being a good example, that I just cant get over how not good it sounds to actually listen to the songs.

Shot in the dark here. Anyone know any guitarist in Colorado springs (or surrounding area willing to travel. We have a practice space.) looking to play some doom. Told my guitarist today that we were gonna go another direction. It's myself on bass and a killer drummer. Just trying to hit all my bases here.
On another note. I love grilling. I grill probably three nights a week. Fucking grilled pork chops are the only way to go. So moist. Y'all should try romaine lettuce w/olive oil and cracked pepper. Leave them on till they get kind of soft and some char. It's something else

Re the Sword: I saw them at soundwave on a half hour set a few years back and thought they were ok considering it was 40 in the shade that day and they would have just stepped put of the American winter. Friends of mine saws them in the states not long afterwards and said they just looked tired. Too much touring?

Helms live is way better than on record, for sure.
I don't think I've ever consciously listened to Converge.
I don't listen to them much anymore, but they were a fun set last night and Kyle had good energy and presence. JD wasn't super animated but they sounded good. And they played a lot of old stuff. So, nostalgia.
I've seen The Sword like 5-6 times or something, and each time has been less impressive. I don't know what it is, but they had a different passion on the first couple records. The last time I saw them supporting Apocryphon was pretty disappointing. I blame Metallica.
That said, I'm pretty stoked for a Big Biz/Sword lineup. O' Brother who?
I think a break might do them some good. I do feel like they've been doing some over-touring. Since they're from Austin, I feel like they've played more than their share of fill in openers throughout the gulf coast. There was one show with no announced openers on the bill, and when I got there The Sword was suddenly the first opening act. Maybe a little rest might re-energize them. Or maybe they suck?

Maybe, I saw them play back in while they were in the middle of one of those 12 day 12 state style tours. I think it was early 09?
