How do you guys have the patience for custom orders!?!?!
I'm about to drop a load of cash for a custom guitar that I probably wont see until this summer. Maybe this belongs in the "mild irritation" thread, but damn. Talk about anticipation build up.

It was kinda rough dealing with excitement and impatience when I had Brian build me a sparklefucker. It took a little longer than usual since he had a tour with CEG right in the middle of the build but he's such an awesome guy to deal with and the pedal turned out so well that I'd have no qualms doing that again and again.
Good deals with: Officer Bukowski, Caesar, BriBri, Amorphous, ThePastRecedes

I don't have patience or money for custom stuff.

man, I don't. but it's just the ordeal you have to go through. I mean, I get it. It takes me months to finish projects I am doing myself sometimes, life happens and all that. It gets frustrating but is so worth it.

Okay fine. I was going to wait until it was done, but fuck it. I'm getting a Hex Guitar built by the folks over at Hex Cabs. We're just working out the final details. I'm fucking stoked. More than worth it IMO.Moustache_Bash wrote:I don't have patience or money for custom stuff.

That thing is so badass. good job on making that happen man, Wow, I feel your pain allready. I waited a year for a guitar once and it was excruciating. Killed when I got it though.

I have a hard enough time buying stuff with 'up to 2 weeks' shipping lead times. If I want a thing I want it now

You only need to worry about having enough money for the deposit so you can finish saving while it's built.

Re: How do you guys have the patience for custom orders!?!?!
I learned patience waiting for approval of Title II firearms and devices from ATF.
Compared to custom builds, that wait is just infuriating, especially when you already own one (so you've passed every background check on earth already and it literally just is asinine bureaucracy in action).
Also by the time I get custom anything built I have very specific needs that will not get filled any other way, and there's no functional choice.
That said I also make sure to get explicit timelines and stay in communication with the builder as those timelines advance.

I'm actually super stoked right now as the Faceplate for my amp Lao wiz is doing is finally a reality. He's exceeding my expectations and its beautiful arlready even without the paint. Been in the works for months now as we discussed it, and then ho sourced the plate, had the wrong size shipped to him, got the replacement, refined the design, (a mix of the original thing with some Lao Wiz goodness as a border) and tonight the metal was kissed with acid and it looks great.
The wait is often quite worth it. Just make sure you know who you are doing it with and what kind of work and time is involved. I'm freaking elated right now.

I'm not too worried about the time table, and I have the entire amount ready. So it's really just a waiting game on my end. My intent is to work on a bunch of music and hopefully some more shows between now and then so I can hopefully use it for summer shows

Congrats on the Hex man! That's awesome stuff. Excited to see it when it is done.
I haven't ordered anything custom in a while. I guess the last custom thing that I personally ordered first hand was a my Verellen cab almost two years ago and I was pretty patient about it since I had another cab to use in the meantime.
