You actually get more into the game this way, because the focus is on the championship and all the peripheral cash-grab shit is out of sight, out of mind.

It's like watching Walking Dead on Netflix vs premiere night on AMC.
Binge-viewing aside...the show is so much better and consuming when the mood/world isn't constantly being disrupted by bullshit advertisements...and even worse, stupid watermark animation/in-show ads of the network plugging their own alternate programming.

HBO is the undisputed champ of television AFAIC. They don't even watermark the programming...talk about doing it right!
Runners-up are Cinemax, Encore, Showtime, Starz, TMC...

This was a GREAT game for everyone who wasn't A.) Rooting for the Broncos, B.) A casual football fan, and C.) Bandwagon slurping the Peytons (Broncos).

It exposed the endlessly-slurped Peytons as one-trick pony frauds.
To see how they were dominated (shut out for 44:45) after padding stats and *offensively dominating* teams in this BS passing-era made me laugh harder than any hacky commercial can hope for.

This was the best kind of entertainment, live action drama and comedy. Unscripted. No pandering, no phoniness.
The Seahawks completely punked everyone on that Denver team.
Think about the storyline going into the game, how we were witnessing a record-breaking season, one of legend, GOAT yadda yadda.
The weather wasn't an issue, there are no excuses.

Peyton choked. When it came time to prove all the naysayers wrong, he looked like RG3 this year.
And he had been defiant and even a bit smug when asked about the "ducks" comment that Sherman wrote a month ago.
"Yeah I throw ducks....a lot of yards, ducks......and touchdowns ducks...."
He did neither in the big game...just threw a bunch of ducks that the Seahawks happily treated like hunting season was open.
He only put up points when Seattle went Prevent-D, essentially in garbage time. And then he STILL got shut out in the 4th quarter.

And it isn't a Peyton-bowl without a pick6.

Russel Wilson stole his entire football shine and looked like a consummate professional while Peyton pouted with the body language of defeat.
This season of meaningless records now mean even less.
Buick & Poopa John's should just hand over the endorsement deals.

This game was a clinic. It was like watching a healthy Spurs team play. Casual fans call it "boring" or "ugly" but the true fans of the game cant get enough of fundamental execution that's like a well-oiled machine. It's like witnessing poetry in motion.

And I started the game half-joking with hope that both teams could lose. Go figure.

it was a terrible game to watch because it was a blowout. i don't blame peyton at all, i credit seattle's D.

Pretty sure I'm not a casual fan, but I have to politely disagree. The folks I watched the game with are all attentive fans, and none of us thought it was a good game. And, we're all Bears fans, so we had absolutely no allegiance to either team.

The Superbowl should be competitive, shouldn't it? Would you rather the game winning points be scored after a mere 18 minutes of play, or would you prefer a hard-fought game where both teams demonstrate excellent fundamentals to the very end, resulting in 4th quarter that has you on the edge of your seat?

I think most fans would agree with me. That's why sports fans love Game 7s (in whatever sport). That's why everyone loves walk-off homeruns. That's why everyone loves game-winning 2-minute drills. Competition makes for a good game. This game was not competitive at all.

Good storyline, but terrible, terrible game... in my informed opinion, of course.

Fair enough. It was definitely not a good game in terms of seeing an actual contest.
But that whoopin was like a reality check directly from *the football gods*
Same with the fact Sherman got injured, which I kind of predicted...
I said to some...acquaintances that I bet he pulls a hammy and is a non-issue for the game, because braggarts get humbled...but I didn't want it to be anything serious.

Weird...I was rooting for it to be an entertaining learning experience and got far more than I bargained for.
