RPM CHALLENGE 2014!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by gunslinger_burrito »

RPM Challenge.
http://www.rpmchallenge.com/

I never bother officially signing up, but this is a fun thing to do, especially if multiple people get into it. Make 10 songs or 35 minutes of original music by the end of February. There are no other rules, but recording one 35 minute drone track in one afternoon kind of defeats the purpose (even for someone like me who regularly records 20-minute noise tracks :erm: ).

I'm going to give this another shot this year. Anyone else want to? It's a great way to get your gears moving if you are someone who regularly has trouble writing, because in this case, you have no choice :poke:
I'll post updates and new tracks or parts of songs here as I get them done, and should any of you respectable folks decide to participate, you should too.

:hello:

:poke: :poke: :poke:

I might take part in this if my health doesn't keep me from wanting to do anything. Been wanting to work on some keyboard driven stuff and I've also been messing around with making sounds in audacity just to challenge myself to see what can be done with it. I'll let you know if I'll be feeling up to it.

Might get me to finally start working on recording the stuff that I've been meaning to get to as well (obviously won't be used here since that would be cheating).

THAT is. awesome. I'm down! And I"ll probably fail and/or cry and/or quit in the middle of it!

Should we start an unofficial list of those of us here who are going to do it, unofficially?

If you want. I was just going to use this thread to talk about it and/or share your experiences.

I, for one, am trying to experiment with some industrial/electronic drum sounds, which I have never really done. Also latin beats o_O
of course there will be noise and heavy guitars....somehow.

You just reminded me that I should probably get around to fixing up my tabletop drumkit thing so I can attempt to write something in a similar style to Swans from back when Michael Gira hated melodies and pleasant sounds.

this will be my 7th year doing RPM.

Finished every one so far but usually end up with 1 or 2 songs I like and a bunch of electronica noise stuff, then never do anything with the finished cd. Good exercise though.

Awesome!!!!
I'm hoping to either make something weird and fun, or, depending on how the songs shape up as I'm writing, have some "demos" so that I can look for other musicians.

Yes. We all should. I am currently torturing myself with fucked up latin electro-industrial beats. I can keep the beat while listening and tapping my foot, but once I start with my guitar.....

Oh well, it's a challenge.

I have a couple cool tracks started, but my DAW is starting to randomly lag/cut-out and I can't figure out why.
