Fixing blemished JM body

Post by colossus »

So I bought this on eBay pretty cheap

As you can see, the PUP routes are way off. What would be the best way to go abut fixing this. I don't care how the cavity looks as long as it's covered by the pickguard. I have basic hand tools...chisels, mallets, files, but no router.

Thoughts? Please tell me I'm not totally screwed.

do you have a dremmel tool? You can get a router attachment for that and it's not great for large jobs, but would work for this if ya go slow. I'm not sure as I'm not super familiar with jazzy's but I'm thinking the left pup route needs relocated up?

Getto method for ugly routing.-

take a drill bit and put some tape around where you want it to stop and not go to deep, now tape off the area you want to remove. drill tons of holes being carefull not to go further than your tape mark. Chisel out the areas between the drill holes.

THIS WILL MAKE ONE UGLY MESS!!! but hey if its covered.....

I'd go get a $30 trim router from Harbor Freight.
