Weird though, in your video, especially on the lower rpm settings, it seems to me the effect is very subtle and the depth doesn't seem to be going as extreme as in Joel's own videos, is there a difference or did you just set it up differently? (it's a bit hard to see with the preset toggles and all)
You are exactly right... think about it in terms of an actual warped record. the faster you play it, it is actually going to modulate pitch more.... if you slow it way down the amount of physical "warp" is the same, but the pitch modulation will be less.

*EDIT* it also depends on the wave shape... if you have a square wave... the rpm is irrelevant because the pitch change is very fast.
Right, now I remember you saying something about this earlier, I didn't expect it to be as big of a difference as I think I'm hearing in Kayzer's video though.
It looks like they tried to deliver the Warped Vinyl at my house today, customs caught it and gave me a $115,- fine.
Anyway, I'll be able to check it out myself this weekend! :)

The name actually put me off because I thought 'yeah yeah, enough with your 'warped vinyl', it's just a hipster word for vibrato and I can already do that with my old Clone Theory or my Behringer' BUT looking at the demo on the net, it looks like a great pedal - the wave control business looks like a great feature and I really dig the vocal-like warble, reminds me of some of my favourite 90s electronica put out by Warp Records - which is apt.

Something tells me if you only want VB-2/Clone Theory style vibrato and nothing more, this won't be the pedal for you. ;)

Yeah, it's much more than that. I think it's a great product, and the price is justified given the work that's gone into it. Total respect to Joel for getting it out there and I look forward to whatever he brings out next.

Good for you since i was already able to do a demo video for this baby.

The Built quality is outstanding, the sound of this pedal is pristine and the options are nearly endless.
Probably the best first release from a new pedal builder i have ever seen.

Enjoy the clip, especially the looping part came super nice.

SMACKAROO!!!
This thing is incredible!
I have goosebumps…
And sleepy feet…

The Warped Vinyl does the faux out of tune second oscillator sound better than I ever heard before and it works with all my fuzz pedals, I've also put it before my drive and fuzz pedals but I think it sounds better after.
It sounds luscious and transparent, I don't know how Joel did this but I think people who love a thick chorus are going to love this one and people who hate chorus and / or usually go for the very subtle ones are going to love this one as well.
The only thing I haven't quite worked out to my liking yet is how it works with the LFO out of the Goatkeeper 3, so far it seems to sound too subtle for my tastes with almost every knob setting I tried.
Lofi mode has quite an impact on the sound, overall it seems to make the chorus sound deeper (especially on slower settings) and the vibrato more shallow.
The vibrato is amazing, it can go very deep but in my opinion it never feels unnatural and the square wave mode is fantastic, better than I heard on any other unit before.
I really had to pinky away a few tears of joy there…

I also have to say the whole package, from the pedal itself to the box and little bag it came in really feels like lots of love and attention for detail went in (also look at the chase bliss decal on the front of the pedal for instance).

YAY!! this post makes me very happy :) I worked very hard to make this pedal play very nice with dirt and other stuff... so I'm glad you are exploiting that. :thumb:

Now, let's figure out how to interface with the goat keeper LFO :!!!:

First things first, the goat-keeper LED outputs a CV so I'd recommend using a stereo cable between the expression input and the goatkeeper LFO out (explanation is too boring and not necessary, I think Glen explained it in a previous post though). It will work with an instrument cable, but it causes the Warped Vinyl to draw a bunch more current than is necessary.

Second thing, and my guess is that this is the issue. Let's say you want to control volume with the goatkeeper LFO (boring I know but works good for an example). So, you've got your volume dip switch up. Remember that the position of the volume knob also matters. If you have the volume knob straight up and down, the maximum sweep (if you have the "sweep" dip in the bottom position) is between the maximum counterclockwise position and the knob position. If you want the goatkeeper to be able to do a maximum sweep of the entire volume range you would have to crank the volume knob all the way to the right... let me know if this makes sense. So glad you like it Tristan!! :hello:

Actually, the safest thing to do for using CV would be to use a TRS plug on the Warped Vinyl side (and just let the "ring" be floating) and then a TS plug on the Goat Keeper side. I think that's the way Glen explained it too. I say that just because I'm not sure how the goatkeeper is wired...

Thanks Joel!
I tried it with a regular TRS cable, I think that should be the way to do it, I also turned up the controls on the Warped Vinyl as I figured they'd probably set the maximum range.
It got more to my liking afterwards when I modulated the depth and the rpm together but it's still a bit subtle to my ear, I have to try with different settings on the Goatkeeper 3 some more and maybe try to modulate the volume on the Warped Vinyl simultaneously to get a more dramatic effect.
To be fair though none of my pedals really work that well with the Goatkeeper 3 LFO out, it's always a hassle to really make it work, the only thing I know that works perfectly with it is the Cosmichorus V3 but overall the Warped Vinyl is more my sound, I really really love it so far. :)

This pedal sounds totally amazing! It's always cool seeing someone do something new and different, and I think this definitely fits that bill! Beautiful sound, tons of features, easy to use, looks nice? This one has everything!

Stellar work Joel.
