New York
I have some family in the states, I've been there a couple of times, so I've seen most of the normal tourist spots in new york.
So my question is, for you guys who know the place better, what should I visit, eat, go?
I'm staying in newark nj, so any place that isn't that far and I can go to by train is a possibility to.
I like guitar, obviously, music, skateboarding and fast food (hamburgers, pizza, "american-mexican")...

Someone told me to visit here. So I am telling you. La Monte Young exhibit. I have never been there, but it sure does sound interesting.

Re: New York
You gotta go to Main Drag music in Brooklyn! Awesome shop with a lot of cool toys.
Also, as far as eating, Taco Taxi (somewhere near Bleecker St.) is cool for American Mexican foods. They've got a killer fried ice cream. There are some good record stores near Bleecker as well...Worth a look if you're into that.
Pizza is plentiful and cheap. Eat up!

Re: New York
China town.
Elizabeth St. Mall if you want sone weird little knick knacks.
My Chinese place closed though
Secret to good ethnic food in NYC: look into the shitty holes in the wall. The one filled with patrons of the corresponding ethnicity is where you want to be.
If you want to skate and have some mexican food, go up to riverside skate park then walk the 2 blocks over to broadway and 142nd for El Maguey.
If you wanna be downtown, Brooklyn Banks and then you can push on over to all sorts of yummy places. I'm never that far down and east, but Saigon Sandwich is fuckin delicious if you've never had a vietnamese sammich. Rays, now Prince St. Pizza was my jam (not sure how it is under now).
This place is pretty entertaining in the "where the fuck did I just teleport to" kind of way:

The MOMA rules. Totally worth your time. Skip The Frick, it sucks....
I haven't been there in like 8 years so I can't presume that the same food/record places are still en vogue... but there's good food everywhere and when I went I saw Sharon Osbourne but she's a worthless cunt so that wasnt even a highlight....
The Strand is the coolest bookstore I've ever been too, as well....

Re: New York
If you're into beer, check out the Brooklyn Brewery or any of the beerhauses in Brooklyn. Rattle and Hum is an awesome craft beer bar in Manhattan (also has good food).
Depending on the type of music you're into, check out St. Vitus Bar in Brooklyn (http://www.saintvitusbar.com) for a show or just to hang out. Usually a chill place when there aren't too many hipsters. The owners are cool dudes are usually behind the bar.
I wish I could offer more ideas, but I only go into the city for beer or music these days
Finding good food in NYC is easy but it's also not cheap.
If you're stuck in Newark, go here http://www.brickcitybarandgrill.com/
