It must really, really suck to be a woman who wants to play music. It's been nearly two decades since I saw bikini kill and shits still the same. It doesn't even make me angry anymore, just really, really sad.

Yeah...It still makes me hella mad. I have a 10 yo daughter who is learning to play the drums. I am made for myself, who has dealt with it for YEARS. And it makes me super sad for her, who hasn't even felt it yet.

Also, Rebecca Dirks is a person who does read discussion forums on occasion. I'm not sure she saw this awful thread, but if I were her and just doing my damn job, I would be so hurt that this is how people talked about me. It doesn't matter if you hate her clothes that she wears now (rather than the black t) or you liked her better on Premier Guitar, she certainly doesn't deserve the sexual vitriol that was spewed on this thread.

Beerhammer, I was just presenting my opinion on how much of a bummer I find these things.

I don't like getting into these debates because there's so much I just can't engage with. If you can't approach it from the view that the world is not a level playing field, that women have it shittier than men and that sometimes even when you say things that you might mean completely innocently or whatever can play into that whole massive cultural edifice that makes life shittier for women, because nothing we say or do takes place in a vacuum, then it's better we just don't argue it. It'd be like arguing over whether or not the sky is blue.
