Our band's bass player brought his VI to practice tonight. I played it on a couple of tracks. Played it through my regular setup, which is a Princeton Reverb and Bassman linked together...
The PR handles all the effected signal and the Bassman is dialed-in to be clean and low.

At the time, I didn't quite know what to make of what I was hearing (in the room) - much less what I was doing... having had it in my hands for all of 30 seconds before hitting record
But um... yeah. It's amazing, how quickly you can get acquainted with this instrument.

And then...
Reverb (and LOTS more reverb)... some dirt... Rangemaster... Harmonic Percolator...

Uhuh.

:yay:

I'm super jealous of your rig. I've been dreaming of a Princeton Reverb + Bassman rig for so long now.
One day I'll have enough money to buy all the stuff I'm gassing for....one day..

Really? Is that a thing? I stumbled on it, quite by accident...
It does sound great though.

My bassman is combo'd with a 15... The 15 and the 10 together is pretty nice.
A ton of cut-through, and a LOT of bottom-end

No idea if it's a thing :idk:
I just always wanted a Bassman for the lows and a Princeton for the cleans.
Kind of random reasoning, I just always thought they'd sound good together.

Can save a few bucks waiting or gun for the one available in hand.

I figure the $35 premium I paid for mine over the current big box stores (since the mom+pop didn't do free shipping) was an idiot fee for not getting one in the mid 90s when nobody wanted them.

Got mine! Switched out the vibrato and pickguard, shimmed the neck. Need to get to sears Thursday for a reamer for the tuner upgrade eyelits. No amp to play through atm so it will be okay.

So I'm pretty sure they're going to ship it some day.

Wow, that turned out fantastic! I love the darker mint guards, looks real similar to a CS Jazzmaster I own and love. :thumb:

Yea, not a fan of white in general (it works with the binding) but the PG color definitely helps.

Wish these weren't the Boring Big Three of bass colors.

Picked mine up off ebay a few weeks back for $350+$50 shipping to hawaii (2 day UPS! Cheaper then the $100+online retailers want.). Had it about 2 weeks now. Truly an amazing instrument for the money. I inspected every millimeter of the guitar. Almost flawless (small gap In one of the block inlays, shite cut nut). Set it up best that I could, original strings, and I'm in love. Honestly I've only picked up my jazzy once since I got it. Dat strangle switch...This is the most tonally diverse guitar I'veever owned. Only things that I'm changing are the bridge, nut, and strings. Other than that it's damn near perfect.

I havent removed the pickgaurd yet, is it shielded under there? Anyone know?

Not sure, I've had very little noise issue even with an overhead fluorescent so haven't fixed what wasn't broken.

Nut on mine could have used a second or three of cosmetic finishing but everything intonates and sounds like it should so I called it good.

And yea, not a bad deal shipping included, think my shipping charge was $20ish from a couple hundred miles away (admittedly it was next day because it was in the same shipping zone by default, so yay), and haven't regretted it for a minute.

I didn't pick up anything else for weeks after getting it.
