In my wife's old department at work (she's a med. scientist) they used to get the occasional limb to dissect....so that's appropriate for me.
I read that as "mad scientist" and didn't seem to tick on for a few split seconds, then burst out laughing. Then I looked closer and saw it said "med. scientist." :grumpy: It's late.

That's a wicked bill to be on. Are Weedeater still touring the same set they've been using for like the last 10 years?

The first serious band I joined I was about 12 years younger than the rest of the members and it worked out pretty good actually, so I don't think its that obscure, and younger people have a tendency to be able to get out more people to shows. So I dunno, am I nuts or should I give the guy a chance?
It could work really well if the guy has a good head on his shoulders. I'm ten years older than my bassist and 8 years older than the other guitarist. Matt (guitar) is my musical soulmate, so I don't think age is that big of a deal unless his mom still has the umbilical cord attached and he's into trivial high school bullshit still. Hope it works out, because if its anything like drummers around here its slim pickins for sure.

We went through something similar before we found Ryder to take the throne. I decided that under 21 just wasn't a good idea. I know you can play bars with and underage musician but they can't be in there when they are not performing. That right there makes me uncomfortable with having a minor in the band. It's not the maturity level that bothers me so much as the forced segregation.

If I'm old enough to be your dad, you can't play in my band. On totally different planets reagardless of shared musical preferences.

I'm lucky to have two dudes my age that share similar passions: beer, weed, boobs and rock (in no particular order), so I've never had to look for someone to jam with.

Grrr. Reaching peak levels of frustration with the Sovtek.
Went back and cleaned up some of my previous work, double checked it, sorted out the known issues, BUT THE QUESTION OF WHAT TO DO WITH THOSE 3 FUCKING WIRES STILL ELUDES ME!!!
It would help a lot if I could figure out how that old spark plug cap they were tied to worked.
Tried tying them together independently. Blew the mains fuse.
Tried linking the tran. to the board, sent the 4ohm wire to ground. Blew the mains.
No I have no idea whether they're associated with the filter cap or need to be earthed as a group or what the shit.
Pretty sure its the only thing wrong with it....really hoping the PT hasn't shat itself.

Yeah, I'm not so cool with that.
I think this last comment is one of the only hiccups.

I'm going through similar struggles right now trying to find somebody to drum in a band I'm starting. At this point I'd take anybody that can keep a beat and thinks wizards are really cool as long as he's not a wasteoid deadbeat that lacks maturity.

If you can make it to practice and have your priorities straight then you're alright with me. Goal wise I'm more interested in completing a record, polishing a live set and THEN playing shows. If you can make it on down that road with me then we're probably going to be able to be in a band with me and everything will be alright.

Being under 21 could be a challenge on some levels but depending on target audience, etc, it might not even matter. I know some bands also refuse to play anything that isn't All Ages so maybe it all works out okay in the end.

Are you following a schematic? (Hope that's not a dumb question to ask at this point).

Sorry to hear. I know how frustrating working on amps can be. But on that note, I just plugged in my Sound City and worked and sounded excellent. I don't get it. Last night when we finished playing the entire room smelled really strong of this amp. It puts out a scent that I can distinguish in a heartbeat since I've been working on it a ton. And it's usually only me that noticed it but the entire band and even the dj noticed it. It basically hot boxed the room. I didn't know if it was working or not though since we use it on guitar. But, like I said, just plugged in and it sounds and works fine :idk:

The only thing I'm getting is a low scent of its heat. I'm guessing the room got overly hot last night and it made it worse? The bias on the tubes is dead on at 70%, so I know it's not over biased, however they get really hot in temperature. Much more than before when it was biasing at 90% (original problem I had). So, I gotta look into that :grumpy:

You guys are lucky to at least have a potential band member or two. I can't get a band/project together to save my life.

Yeah, I am, but I'm schematic illiterate. I thought I had it figured before, turns out I didn't.
To be honest I'm a dope, 'cause I thought it'd be as easy as mapping out where the existing stuff was and replacing it. Which for the most part it was, and that's the stuff I can handle, but I didn't have the foresight to account for the changeover between the new and old caps, and what happens to the stuff that's hooked up to that extra pole.
Total steep learning curve for me, who is not too science-like (beyond a VERY basic understanding of hard/physical sciences or of outside of human sciences).

That thing with your amp sounds very strange indeed.

That tuning is drop Z.
Or drop ZZ Top.
Now I wanna hear Torche cover Top.
And vice versa.
