Re: What are you getting your parents for Christmas?
a friend of mine had a hilarious (IMO) costume for her dog this halloween, cowboy riding him as if he was a horse. i'm trying to find those tiny sized for my mom's yorkies but haven't yet...
also not sure i'll pull it off but am chatting w/ my cousin who has dwarf goats. would be awesome & again hilarious to show up at my folks' place w/ two of those for her.
dad i never know what to get since he's the type that just gets whatever he wants soon as he can. vintage car & motorcycle junkie. sis & i were talking about sneaking into his garage & replacing kickstands for him on the ones that have the hideously annoying type you have to jump the bike over w/ the way friendlier one-side type but kinda doubt we're gonna pull that off w/ christmas getting here soon...

A high powered rifle and a one way trip to Swaziland to hunt the Chupacabras twin brother Steve. Fucker doesn't know what's coming.
Seriously though, I have no idea.

Re: What are you getting your parents for Christmas?
At a certain point in my life my parents just started giving me money for christmas. I figured what the hey, if they aren't going to put any effort into it then why should I. Same thing sorta happened with brother and sister, only there was a period when they were both in college and i was still in high school. None of us had any money to buy gifts, let alone have a clue what the other person might enjoy. So we stopped giving gifts too. I'm not gonna buy shit just because I'm supposed to, thats bullshit. if i want to give someone a gift...which i do all the time...its not going to be on some designated date.
Also, fuck the economy
best gift: when i was younger and just starting to get session gigs, my parents bought me a second hand 89 prs cu24 tentop. out of the blue. man that is one sweet guitar.
addendum: now that I have nieces and nephews I go WAY overboard on christmas gifts and birthday presents for them. but thats that.

Leopold if you can, yea, it makes the old guys happy.
The Nikons are a good midrange option as well.
As far as my family, well, I've not seen the old man in almost 20 years. He's still alive according to the soc. sec. death index. I'd piss on his grave if he was, even if I had to fedex it and pay someone to pour it.
Mother, and I say it in a King Diamond voice since 1986 or so, has sent me a whopping couple letters in my adult life. She has her own trip, I'm ok with it. Not being there was better than being there likely given her issues. So I shall give her nothing.
And then conjure evil for me.

Re: What are you getting your parents for Christmas?
We're doing a secret Santa this year. I drew my brother, I'm getting him a roll of quarters and a jug of laundry detergent since I found out he calls my parents and gets them to drive him home so he can do his laundry. Who does this? Maybe a Google maps printout of all the laundromats within walking distance of his apartment.....
Actually I probably won't since he won't find it funny and will cause a scene.....
Fuck the holidays are such a pain in my ass. Who has time for all this family holiday bs?

Re: What are you getting your parents for Christmas?
My brother and I are are both married (well he's getting married this year).
We always go cheap on one another. Usually local craft brews and coffee supplies.
We went halvesies this year on my dad's gift and got him a nice trail cam.
It's still up in the air for the moms. I actually bought a Kitchen Aid mixer because it was on sale and she's doing a ton of baking but my brother told me that she got a new nice (but not Kitchen Aid) mixer last year for Christmas so now I'm hesitant about it. Basically confused as fuck.
I see my parents maybe 3-4 times a year if we're all lucky so it's not like they're sending my lists, etc.

Re: What are you getting your parents for Christmas?
My parents usually don't need much and I'm a terrible gift giver but this year I bought them a solid state drive for their computer and I'm installing it for them. Their current HDD just died so they'll be getting their present early.
