I liked Prometheus, but I think you have to look at it as part of the story arc. Like the boring, establish a backstory chapters in books. Having said that, I'm one for those chapters, so maybe not to everyone's liking. I CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH BACKGROUND INFO!
I'm able to block the fact that a lot of those characters were rehashes of characters from the other Alien films, which all seem to have a general archetype they work from, just because I'm more interested in the plot development.
Was a little pissed at their Darwinian cop out "science", but again, it sticks it creationists, so I can let it slide.
Rodriguez has done some great no brainers this decade gone. Machete fucking rules.
You guys mailed all the thinky movies.
I did particularly love Children of Men.

Edit: forgot to mention I consider the films after Aliens to be unwatchable. 3 sucks hard and resurrection was a joke.

I'm really keen on seeing Gravity, directed by the same guy behind Children of Men. It's supposed to be fantastic.

I love endless details, too. I generally prefer the extended editions of films and lores I really like because it's more of what I love, but Prometheus, I dunno, I didn't feel like it was well-scripted. Something about it didn't feel right. I'm not a critic so I don't know what it is. I just go by my gut.

Troll hunter, that scene in the woods. at the beginning.

And I've only heard good things about Rubber, too. I know. It's very " :wha?: "

I'd like to see Gravity. Excited to see Wolf Of Wall Street finally come out, too. I've been trying to steadfastly ignore all the fishing-for-Oscars/hyped rollout movies for another month, but I'm probably going to have to cave on that one.

Oh man, I've got to watch that movie again. It's bringing back lots of great memories.

I know what you mean, Oscar season films do start to become tedious after a while. The same people are always nominated. Pixar and Spielberg are pretty much always in it in one way or another.

I didn't think SKyfall was super hyped or anything but a lot of my friends loved it.
That movie was pretty fucking bad. It was just callbacks saying: "hey remember all of those other Bond movies that were way better than this one?"

Also I have only met a few people that liked Oblivion. Went to it in theaters pretty stoned with some friends, what a complete waste of time. I actually yelled: "this is fucking stupid" in the theater.

Oh and I don't know I liked them as kids, but I absolutely despise watching Disney movies. Not that they are bad, I just hate watching them.

I did not feel that way at all. I thought it was saying, "Hey, remember when Bond movies were camp and had little of the dark, ominous art that cinema had back then? Well, I'm changing that." That's what it felt like to me. Do I prefer Skyfall over Dr. No, The Man With The Golden Gun or any other classic? Yes, but I still absolutely adore the originals. It's just I've moved on from silliness and sexism and unrealistic violence. I'm not saying Skyfall is realistic in its action set pieces or that the originals were questionable, but it certainly possesses more modern choreography and feels more in tune with who I am today.

Skyfall to me was middle of the road with the last 10-15 years of bond movies.. a good popcorn movie. But lets face it the best part of the movie was the car scene… Really my only Bond wish is for someone to beg Connery to came back as a villain and kill 007 :thumb:  :thumb:  :thumb:

That would be awesome, but they would never do it.

I saw so much more than a popcorn movie. Just the cinematography alone was as good as any other Sam Mendes movie.

cinematography was good yes but a lot of the story was not my favorite, actually I feel that a few of the 90's one would have been really good with a different Bond and director

And He proved he could be a villain in The Avengers.. granted a very silly movie

Speaking of 007...

I was flipping channels recently and watched a bit of Goldfinger for the first time ever. Was kinda shocked to see James practically rape a female character in a horse barn. She clearly said "no" several times and finally gave in after being physically threatened, pushed, and thrown around by James. I was under impression he was smoother than that lol...

Yeah, that scene in Goldfinger is pretty rough.
But, if you're gonna call yourself Pussy Galore, you are obliged to give it up to everyone. Laws of Bond universe.
There's also that rough rape scene in High Plains Drifter. Except that movie fucking rules.
