Good stuff! With all the good things I've heard I'm not hugely worried about ordering one without playing. I live round the corner from a music shop so when my next paycheque comes through...

:(

Finally have the cash, went in to the guitar shop to order one and the next time they're getting any in is january. I wasn't unrealistic enough to expect them to have one in stock, but realistically the end of january? It's a bummer. Guess if you want a squier bass vi right now you gotta get on a waitlist though.

Maybe it's worth shelling out the money for one of the other bass vi alternatives, or maybe I should just abandon the fuckin idea and buy something different. Ooorr maybe I can summon some patience somehow. WHAT DO I DO?

You're lucky. The waitlist time at my local shop is "undefined" and on top of that they wanted me to put down $50.
I was at least able to convince them that I'm not putting down money for something when they can't even tell me when it will come in but still eff that nonsense.
If I were you I'd try to summon the patience somehow.

Yeah that was my thinking. I think they're gonna ask for a 50% deposit, but I'd have to pay it all anyway, and january isn't THAT bad... This is HAPPENING tomorrow.

Def summon the patience. Like you mentioned, best to get on a wait list now as they're selling far faster than they can supply 'em. There's not many alternatives either, not at that price point. End of Jan is only two months away, you'll be happy you waited. :thumb:

Also, just FYI, when you order thru Sweetwater or Musician's Friend they require full payment up front without a definitive arrival date so a deposit doesn't seem too out of line IMO.

Nah the guy was super honest about the situation and really nice about it so I don't mind ordering from there. He told me a story about this one guy who got one delivered, didn't love it and returned it, they sold the thing again within 3 hours! Seems like either fender reeeaaally didn't anticipate the demand for these or they got the numbers right but didn't care about pissing people off with slow supply.

Definitely didn't know that. I don't feel as bad if they do come back to me and ask for a deposit now.

I doubt Fender realized the demand, the Bass VI has never done well in the past for some reason. But at the price point how could you not get one of these?

Exactly! It was only a matter of time for me whether on a waitlist or till they got old enough that they got flipped often enough to easily snag one. Waitlist is better I figure.

If people already have these and are hanging on to them, instead of flipping them on evilbay for inflated prices - I'd say that's a pretty good indication of bang for buck.
Mr. No - waiting on mine too. I put my order and deposit in with Long & McQuade, back in August...

I fully expect it to be vintage, by the time it arrives.
Then, I'll flip it on evilbay for a SERIOUSLY inflated price!

Ah man, that doesn't look good for me. I waited until end of Sept to put my order in. Don't know what I was thinking
Oh well mine will be even more vintage!

MF and Sweetwater have never charged my card on a preorder.

I call it in though, not the web site.
