It helps that the action on that Dinger is SUPER low. I can tap on guitar, but not on bass.

i have no idea. Jean's actually good at it, he could answer way better than i could.

when i started playing bass again i picked up a cheapie 6 string and just played around with hitting frets with both hands. learned a couple patterns. the muting was a little weird, especially with fuzz, but it's not that hard. helps that i keep the action decently low?

01) mebbe the most interesting sort of compliment i ever got about playing bass was from a grrL who i was sharing genital space with who doesn't really listen to our music, "i think you're probably good playing bass though? you have big hands and they are good down there in my parts?". thannnnnnnnnnnks?

02) yah. i have sorta large hands and replace skill with enthusiasm enough that i can hit a bit firmly. shit doesn't sound good at all on really high action basses though.

True, low, low action which Dingwall can achieve easier than most. Roscoes get there though too. Just saying. Plus they are better than Dingwalls. So are MTD's and Fenders...well, pretty much every bass is better than a Dingwall because Dingwalls are gay.
