GTFO Big Enclosures are the shit.
As I look at my board with its Meatsmoke, dirge 3 in 1, b:assmaster and other giant pedals, I am sure that I would also buy them if they were smaller....or bigger.....so I guess what I originally said makes no sense :idk: I was trying to say nice things. It's good when pedals sound good and are small. But good is more important than big or small (easiest TWSS setup in history).

My reaction as soon as I saw "HM-2 for $250"

These things are going for $60 on the evilBay, why would I pay 3 times as much for something that, outside of sludge and niche Scandinavian black metal, sounds like grindy dissonance?

The clips certainly don't sell me either. The only time I've really dug the HM-2 was on Bloodbath's Resurrection Through Carnage (thought that could have been an HM-3, can't remember).

Also just found out that Akerfeldt left Bloodbath, I'm more than year late on that but still

Can we talk about this? Why did he goop an admitted clone? Like, he straight up said "this is a clone" but there's a bit with goop and I just... can't... understand.

Also: sanding transistor numbers off seems odd. Odd and unnecessary.

Also: I still like this company.

All I know is I love my Box of War, so whatever Matt does sounds good somehow. I'd try it.

This Pedal was used by slash on Their Australian Tour of that Year. Durin their concert Slash threw the pedal into the audience and I fought arm and leg to victoriously claim the prize. I still carry the scars to this day so you will see that this is a bargain.
I hope that Slash ditched it because he hated it.

Not that weird, that's eBay English. They're gonna start teaching that in schools.

I must say I'm always amazed at those picturing us sitting around wringing our hands trying to figure out ways to rip people off.
Really?
I can assure you that is not the case. You are paying for a number of things when you buy a pedal from us and the prices are not random.
Here's a few of them:
Parts and assembly
The cost to rent a mid sized shop each month
Providing USA small business jobs to four people. These are real employees that are registered with the IRS and pay real taxes.
Allowing me to pay myself and help support my family and pay a mortgage
Allowing me to be the proud owner of a small business that is functioning in a healthy way
Completely hand assembled pedal. Nothing is preloaded. Every single component is placed into the PCB and soldered, all wires attached by hand and hard-wired to the pots and jacks (nothing mounted on the board), and oh yeah, someone gets paid a good rate to do that here in the shop.
Think you can create a line of pedals and try to make a fulltime job of it because all a pedal costs is the money for "a few components and a painted enclosure"? Go for it. Be prepared to work 16 hour days, do a ton of research, deal with the ups and downs of business, be in the negative for a long time, and pray to god it works out while trying to compete with huge companies that can crank out pedals for almost nothing.
Yes, because of all of you willing to pay our "boutique" prices, I have the glory of being able to drive a 2004 Volvo wagon with over 100k miles on it. Living the high life.
If you don't want to pay the price of our pedals, then don't. But please think before making comments not taking into account the fact that the people involved in said company actually want to be able to have it be their job, and work their asses off trying to make it happen.

BTW, thx to those of you who dig our stuff. I appreciate it. And if you want to know why we sand off the IC's and transistors, just ask, and I'll tell you why I have the audacity to do such a thing. I'll post it here later if ya want.

Welcome to ILF! Hope you didn't get the wrong idea from this thread, we tend to bitch and moan about everything here.

While the HangMan isn't something I'm personally interested (never really cared for the HM-2 sound), I'm strongly considering a Box of War for my next fuzz purchase. :animal:

I'll be honest, the absolute *BEST* HM-2 I've ever owned was smoked by the Boss GL-100 rackmount - an I just can't go back to the orange and black monster or a flipswitch-improved clone.

Parametric EQ and designed for AC-power headroom, XLR outs, etc.

And they're $50 MIJ units.

Don't get me wrong, I get the whole "made in the US" price point thing.

But it's a HM-2, and as much as I love the circuit, it's just not a high dollar sound.

I replaced mine back in the day doing severe noise with the then-released big ugly red Dano pedal in '95 or so.

But hey, if someone wants a little better version that's repairable etc, why not.

I've blown more on less.

But I'm going to go hug my GL-100 now.

My pedalboard costs approximately 191 Metal Zones.

Your Mercy Phuk is the best dirt pedal ever. I love your shit and am saving for a Your Face because it has the weird "gurgle" that most fuzz faces don't have, and I want a thick fuzz face-y sound in my life. I don't think anyone here was implying you price your pedals too high (well, maybe a few...) because making a pedal with that many parts has to take a damn long time regardless what it's aping.

I. Love. Yr. Shit.

So, in good faith an' all that, and not even being remotely facetious:

How come you sand the numbers off the trannies? Isn't gain/leakage more important than transistor type in FFs?

How come there's goo on your clone? Is it so other dudes can't see what the switch is doing?
