Cool, thanks for the rec.kbithecrowing wrote:Looks like most of her live stuff is pulling from Pain is Beauty and Apokalypsis, arguably her two best albums. Those pictures are great DarkAxel! I'm excited.

Saw them last night! Sadly we got there a bit late so we only saw a couple of Chelsea Wolfe's songs, really liked what I did see as well. But Russian Circles were Siiiiick! It was so freaking loud, and the bass was CRUSHING, it was awesome.

Re: Russian Circles and Chelsea Wolfe current tour
DarkAxel's review just made quite a bit more enthusiastic about going to see them tomorrow. Can't really say what I think of Memorial songs yet but I read some studio report which got me interested and waiting for some magnificent tones. I have to say the first impression of the sound was disappointment, too distant and lacking some punch (though the actual record probably sounds better than the bandcamp stream). I discovered Russian Circles at the time when Stations was out and really liked it but I didn't really listen to Empros other than a couple of times. Now I just started to listen Chelsea's new one and it sounds like it's going to be really interesting live.

Even though I wasn't really happy with Chelsea's new album, live makes such a difference
and the new RC album... i just don't know
i think there are songs that are awesome, but there certainly is a few "fillers" as well
but again... live, it just works
they know what they're doing

Chelsea was good live. Bass & synth created heavy constant low end to their sound. Also Russian Circles' sound = huge. I enjoyed it but in the long run, I don't think the music itself has that much of an impact on me. Although I do want to listen the albums again to know how the live show changed them for me.

Saw Chelsea with True Widow at the end of September in SF. Her songs are hit or miss with me, but she sounded great... very dark and atmospheric with lots of drones and cool guitar tones. True Widow's bassist sounded fucking MONSTROUS
