I just got a Kindle (for like, dirt cheap too) and would like to check out some new/different stuff. Free or lending available would be cool too.
Sci-fi, fantasy, plain good entertainment, whatever.

Maybe check out "Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World" by Haruki Murakami. Fits your description, ALL of his books are amazing and far out.

edit: i dont know anything about kindle or free/dirt cheap access. Maybe free from your library, i know my sister and mother both digitally "check" out books for their digital readers.

"Mogworld" - Yahtzee Croshaw

As a fan of ZP for years and years, I didn't think that his novels would have been anywhere near as entertaining as it is.

Anybody know any books about Japanese business culture from an anthropological perspective? Topics of special of particular interest would be the big former zaibatsu companies.

Been reading Carrie recently alongside The Great Gatsby now that I can finally read it out of a school setting.

Library stop today:

Suicide - Edouard Leve
The Fifty Year Sword - Mark Z. Danielewski

I read this both around the same time last year, too... huh.

Audiobooks. :idk:

Just make sure that the narrator is entertaining enough, boring voices can ruin the fun of a good book. "The Hitcher's Guide..." read by Steven Fry would be enough to draw anyone into audiobooks.

Since I'm not in school I don't have to read. Sounds like I'm an idiot, but I don't watch TV either. My brain prefers being interactive with the things I do. I do read reference books, and recently read Zappa's "The Real Frank Zappa Book" which is amazing - so many great stories!
