ugh. in Cali it's CRAZY the amount of "gun control" laws we have. yeah. works GREAT. look at Oakland. fucking insane out there. but a 29 round magazine? EEP. i think anything over 10 is illegal here.

i have a RIA 1911 .45 (damn son. you paid a G for yours? that's NICE. mines was $450 new, only had to replace 3 or 4 parts that were cheap. shoots WELL.), a Ruger SP101 357 and a Mossberg 500 12 gauge.

the 1911 is for my front room where i spend most of my waking hours, the shotty is for the bedroom. where i..... sleep.

yeah. i'm still torn about the "ready to go" vs "rack once for scary/dramatic effect" theories of how to leave your gun. i have the 1911 with one in the chamber, full mag and the safety on. the shotty right now is with a full under barrel and no rounds in the chamber. i think i'm going to go to locked and loaded on the shotty though. my brother had a long conversation with some cops and friends that have done bounty hunter style work.... the general consensus is that saying "i have a gun" or clickCLACK'ing isn't that effective. way better to keep it simple if you're waking up and be ready.

i...... think?

Also the whole Canada thing
I am however going to a shooting range this weekend where I will be shooting a SKS rifle, S&W 15/22 rifle, 22 cal walther and mossberg 12 gauge shotgun
I'm pretty excited for it
Found out I have the option to shoot a 50 cal rifle too. So yeah, that's happening.

I'd prefer that they run away, or submit until the authorities arrive rather than popping someone and dealing with going to jail/possibly getting sued/actually killing a person. Even when you're in the right you'll still spend some time in the clink. Most state laws dictate that you have to announce yourself and that you are armed and give the offender a chance to flee (and a good chance to shoot you first), and after that you may only shoot if you have no clear path to escape.

no guns for me...i'd be in more danger of shooting myself than i'd gain in safety.

i sooooooo fucking agree that if someone breaks into mines i want then held at gunpoint till the cops get there. i never want to have to shoot anybody. i enjoy guns for target shooting and feel they're a smart thing to have around in the home for protection. so of course i'd say i've got a gun or pull it on them instead of just start blasting.

buuuuuut.... i just don't know how effective the click clack really is. and i know in Cali if someone illegally enters your home it's considered self defense. and we're so damn dumb about guns out here i can't imagine it's more restrictive in other states. 'cept mebbe NY.

but fuck yeah. ideally i only ever use my guns for pleasurable things, not something awful like taking someone's life.

Nah I hunt, the guns are mostly used hunting for turkeys and waterfowl. Bows for deer. I don't own a handgun since I see them mainly as a people killer. I'd probably pack one if I was in bear country, though.
