The Animals was one I missed when I was a kid. I only had the 'classics' and heard very little of Animals. But it's absolutely amazing. I only picked it up two years ago, but I've loved it ever since. Same goes Meddle.D.o.S. wrote:DUUUUUUUUDE.

I might just listen to this record on repeat today.
I really liked Blake's old band, Me and Him Call It Us, too, but it's definitely in the more angsty early aughts screamo category.

Job has been driving me crazy and I've felt really cooped up even though I've been out and about and doing things all weekend.
I have an interview with a new job that will not afford me the luxury of listening to music like this like I'm able to do when I'm fixing computers at my current job but I'm hoping the pay and the consistent schedule/9-5 with weekends off will outweigh being able to rock out when I'm fixing computers.

Think you're about ten years younger than me so my experience will be different to yours but I've met very few people who don't know and like Pink Floyd. I don't listen to radio much but back when we had it on in work Another Brick In the Wall and Wish You Were Here would be on a regularly as Queen and a lot more often than any song by the Who. Guess times change.AngryGoldfish wrote:The long, trippy songs and their earlier work with Syd Barret puts off some people here in Ireland. They're not as radio-friendly as Queen. For me Pink Floyd are encapsulated the most... 'accurately' with huge opuses like Shine On You Crazy Diamond, which is only played in segments on the radio from time to time, and Comfortably Numb, where the DJ's cut short the two minute solo. Queen was also always easier to dance to and is therefore popular at clubs and events. With that said, Pink Floyd in the UK are known just as much as Queen or The Who, if not more. Ireland never took to them as they did Queen, at least from my perspective.
Meddle and Saucer would be my favourites from the Floyd catalogue. Love most Who albums too. If people haven't seen this then it needs to be seen asap:

The Who was not the right band to use, but Queen, I definitely hear Queen mentioned more often than Pink Floyd. But none of us can pay attention to everything, so one's perception on what they're hearing throughout the day is going to be different than another's.

I can't stand Queen, The Who, the Clash, or the Rolling Stones (aside from Gimmie Shelter).

I appreciate your resistance to the monarchy but those are all damn fine bands.

And Paint It Black, Wild Horses, Sympathy for the Devil (except for its annoyingly repetitive drums), Angie, Under My Thumb, You Can't Always Get What You Want, and (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction. Other than that I'm not especially in love with The Rolling Stones. The Who are a great band, but they're not my cup of tea. The Clash are annoying just like so many punk bands. I understand that people think they're amazing, but there are only a few punk bands I like, and only a few songs within those bands that I love.conky wrote:I can't stand Queen, The Who, the Clash, or the Rolling Stones (aside from Gimmie Shelter).

I just wanted to say that I hadn't really given CoL a good listen to before you posted this. I've now downloaded their entire discography and wanted to thank you. This fills a void that I've had for quite a while. this is what I always wanted isis and pelican to do, add more ambience and "gazey" elements. so in short: Thank youHeavyXIII wrote:
There's been a lot of CoL in my playlist lately.

Been feeling really low and tired today so the new National album is being played. Beautiful work so far. I'm going to see them in November. I have two spare tickets and no one will/can go with me. *makes depression worse*
