In the episode "rabid dog" marie is with her therapist,
MARIE: "Last night I was online for six hours looking up untraceable poisons.
Saxitotoxin. Derived from shellfish. Produces a flaccid paralysis that leaves the victim conscious through a progression of symptoms. Death occurs from respirartory failure. That is definitely a contender."
but then again, that might be too obvious and the writers of this show are better at this than me!
You may be on to something. They don't like things coming purely out of the blue. They like to show forces in motion before an event happens. The whole mid-air collision arc in season 2. They kept Marie in last Sunday's episode, which is probably a good indicator that she's some sort of a factor.
The thing that gets me about last Sunday's episode is that they left things not well defined about what Walt is setting off for. He was in progress of turning himself in to the DEA when the interview with Gretchen and Eliot came on. Pissed him off, but I can't imagine Walt is just coming after them loaded for Nazi-biker as he is.
I had a notion a while back that he was coming back to save Jesse, but it's a stretch. Unless Walt connected that the blue is still flowing and it's because they've got Jesse cooking, that's not it. (Although possible -- the blue stuff was mentioned as getting around in the interview, so he could have put it together.)
My theory: Walt is still planning on going down for his crimes. But he's going to do it like Scarface, not a schlub. He's taking his money back from the Nazi bikers so he can go down showing the full measure of his achievement ($$$). And the ricin? For himself. The only other reason for it I can see is if he knows Jesse is alive and he thinks that Jesse is his to kill for the betrayal.
I don't know what walt got out of that grechen and eliot interview. Here's the thing about the blue meth still out there. Walt should fully expect the blue meth to be out there. Todd called walt the day him and his uncle took over the meth business from that "wolverine" guy. Todd cooked a ton of meth with Walt, he left Todd to be the head chief. He knew the quality was down, but he knew that todd wasn't cooking it (when lydia came to the car wash). He should fully expect the blue meth to still be out there. There is still gallons of the methylamine they stole, and a cook he taught. The Nazi's stole his work, the barrels. Grechen and Eliot stole his work, greymatter. Greymatter is small potatoes 20 years ago compared to the Meth. I don't think he'd be too concerned with greymattet. He killed for those barrels of money. Here he is in New Hampshire, the same spot he was 20 years ago when someone else got the better of him. The first time around he retreated and lived a pretty meek life teaching chemistry. Maybe seeing Gretchen and Eliot reminded him of that. I doubt Gretch and Eliot will even be in the last episode (maybe in a flashback).
I think he's going back for Jack and Todd. Jesse is still presumed dead. I wish jesse would be locked in a room full of puppies and just play with them for whole last episode, but I have a bad feeling Jesse is going to reap what he sowed. He didn't listen to mike, he shot gale in the face, he helped jane start using again, He met andrea trying to sell her meth at and AA meeting.
Although Jesse is far more a victim of circumstance, Walt is just a victim of himself.
but seriously. I haven't got a clue, and that's pretty excellent
Alan Sepinwall has a pretty simple, and maybe possible, idea at the Cockamamie Theory blog:
The ricin is for Walt. He takes care of business with the Nazis, consumes the ricin, then turns himself into the authorities, cutting a deal that will keep Skyler out of prison. Once the deal is completed, he dies in jail a few days later, with everyone assuming it was the cancer that got him.

That's a better version of what I was chewing on. I like it. Two days and we know.

That sounds very plausible... almost TOO plausible.
andreas son has been a major reason for Jesse to keep on trucking. He's going to play a part in this. I also agree that Marie will be involved. As well as Walter Jr.
Here's another theory... Walt kills the neo jack nazis and gets his monies back. He gets back to his family, or at least his kids. Walt Jr. is waiting for him somehow and kills Walt. Boom! Slide guitar credits...
