Small 4-6 input mixer with an efx loop?
boop.
so, was looking at my synthy yarea setup and realized i'm going about it DUMB. i have a section with my 'pad with a Year 2525 and a Possessed, then was gonna do a second tier with some hardware synth/drum machine shtuff. and some effects boxes for them.
but that's stoopid.
what would be AWESOME is a mixer with -
01) at least 4, preferrably 6 inputs
02) smallest footprint possible
03) an efx loop that can be turned off or on all channels
04) a mix for the efx loop
i don't care about eq that much or mic inputs, this would be something i would mount on a board, give an input to my second bass output, a Drone Commander, a 'pad, mebbe another synth or two.
any suggestions?
oh jia. SMALL. i would love to keep my setup as small and portable as possible since i'm already lugging around power amps and cabs and a PT-Pro for bass....
meow?

hurm. the DFX6 looks really cool actually. some reverb or other silly stuff would be kinda neat.
looks like no one sells the 6 anymore, just the 8. i'll look at measurements when i get home.
PEAVEY PV PEEVEE PEHVEH lookins are NOW.

that's the other thing though, i HATE cramped layouts for live stuff. i'm already fumbly enough. don't need to add any more layers of oopsies.
the Mackie efx6 one's discontinued, can't find it. i kinda like the PRO8 which looks like the series that replaced it. it's a bit more than i want to spend at $230 new, but it does have USB also, which would be cool. it'd make it easy to bring a laptop to practice and do a room recording for ideas.

USED IS FOR PLEBIANS.
as much as i love saving money on solid gear, a mixer is actually one of the things i'd be afraid to buy used n
they can be finicky and people beat the HELL out of them.

Re: Small 4-6 input mixer with an efx loop?
You could consider some rack options, but one thing leads to another down that road and it could change your whole life.
I had a little Alesis Multimix with effects once, it stopped working right after I got it. Yamaha MG 10/2 is what I use now, I think it's perfect. Nice warm pres, really flexible loop options, and it's only 11 inches long. Mixers with generic effects aren't necessary if you want to use your cool effects anyway.
You could also look at DJ mixers if you want some really good built in effects, but they're expensive as hell for the nice ones (Pioneer, Allen & Heath, Denon etc) and all the rca and xlr i/o can be frustrating as fuck.

Re: Small 4-6 input mixer with an efx loop?
yah. i just want a simple box with 1/4 inch in outs. i'm not really into a rack option right now 'cause i want to mount it on a pedal board.
but yeah. OOMPH. THAT'S WHEN BAD EXPENSIVE THINGS HAPPEN. EEP.

Re: Small 4-6 input mixer with an efx loop?
oh jia. i've been fucking lagging on loads of stuff, hunting down the right mixer is one of them.
just wanted to make sure..... am i thinking of efx loops in the right way? i want to have 3 or 4 pedals, use the mixer to either send a clean signal of whatever's in that channel, or mix in that channel running through the pedals in the efx loop.
that's how they work right? or am i being stoopid?

I've never used it for recording but it has saved my ass in a few live situations.
