Yeah ry, once you've had tubes, you can never go back to solid state. Tube cleans are the joint. Peavey also made some mad stuff that goes for cheap here and there. That combo would sound pretty tits with your emperor though, especially now its loaded with sheffields.
I can vouch for sovteks.

Those no-name Chinese tubes can be swank sometimes. Had a set of shuguang el34bs on my old carvin. Fat city.

TJ, I expect some Dr Who sounding shit!

So addicted to the new windhand. I listened to it three times yesterday.

I wanted to post that you can make those 5150 heads sound great if you dial in some mids and keep the gain at a medium level since I heard that they are based on a hotrodded Soldano circuit. JCM800 > Soldano > 5150, I could be wrong though.

Anyway I'm sure this coversation will sidetrack off of Peaveys for a few pages after that Matamp clearance sale post. Wow.

I wish I could afford that 400 watt beast. How badass would it be to have two 400 watt tube behemoths pumping out the bass!

Well, you'll definitely never have a problem with mids with a 5150. That amp is all mids. You'll end up dialing them back a little bit for sure. I've never played a more mid voiced amp. Maybe my old Mesa mark iii, but I can't be sure. My marshalls have needed more bass dialed in on the eq, but have not been more mid heavy than the 5150, which is saying a lot, 'cause the Marshalls are very mid based machines.

But yes, dial back the gain. I always kept it at around 4, or 10-11 o'clock.

I find the cleans sound better on the low input. It takes out the sterile icepick frequencies that they have.

Yea, if I had the scratch I'd totally be blowing up their phone, even to have it shipped. My buddy has got a bit of cash in his bass rig fund, so he *might* pick up the 412 bass cab. If they still have it, that is.
