Has anyone heard of or used Irongear pickups? From what I can tell, they're at a similar price point as the GFS stuff, but they seem a little bit higher quality. They don't have a billion models, but their designs seem well thought out and interesting.

Hadn't heard of either prior to this thread, have since researched both and am very grateful to have learned of them.

i just looked up irongear myself. shit, those are cheap. if they're a decent pickup then that would be quite a buy. $40-50 for a pickup that's supposed to be on par with the boutique shit.

EMG 81/85 set in my Strat through my Ampeg SS-140c head gives me that Crowbar, compressed, high gain, kirk'smof*ckinbeard sound.
I also have an EMG passive bridge pup and a burstbucker neck pup in my Matt Pike inspired 9 string.
I feel that between these 2 sets, a large spectrum of doom and like sounding awesomeness can be covered.
That being said, I haven't tried out many other pups. I've been hurting to try out a warpig as well as some Dimarzio D Activators, and maybe one day give some p90's a spin.

Aww yeah another Ampeg dude! Welcome. I use a VH140C, although a Peavey Mace is in my sights right now. Can't pass up 160w tube for cheap (recently recapped too)

For sure. I heard SS series are pretty well the same as the VH, just with a single power amp as opposed to the dual 70w of the VH.
