Re: I'm quitting drinking
I went from being drunk every night to giving it up for the most part.
Almost lost the family and was in a pretty dark place and things turned around once I stopped drinking and started being available to my family. I'm a lot better off without it.
I'm not anti and I didn't really consider myself an alcoholic. I just had a job that encouraged drunkenness with very cheep often times free drinks, while on the clock. It was just a generally unhealthy thing to do, physically and mentally.
I had a few celebratory beers a few weeks ago and since my tolerance has gone out the door, I paid the price the following day. So after that, my alcohol consumption is pretty much nil. I feel a lot better without it and considering the amount of responsibility I know have in my professional life. Being a drunk isn't really conducive to that.

Re: I'm quitting drinking
I'm going about two months pretty soon. I could never go indefinite I don't think, but once a year I give up something I shouldn't be doing or try something new for some variances. I'm glad you woke up before something really awful happened.
I have a close friend who just had to go to jail for a dui. I thought that would help him with his problems but since he's been out it's worse than before.

Re: I'm quitting drinking
I got your back, too.
I've posted a few threads on here about trying to quit, as well. I haven't completely kicked it, but I still want to. Hopefully after my upcoming move, it'll be easier. Fingers crossed.

Re: I'm quitting drinking
Last year, I quit drinking just so I could afford a wretch machine. Of course I immediately started again after obtaining the wretch. With the exception of meeting up with an online buddy for a few beers, I have not had a drink in 2 months. I used to hit the booze pretty hard, drunk every fucking day. On the weekends, I would start drinking as soon as I woke up. Now i just smoke.
Quit drinking and after a while, use the money you saved to buy something expensive.
