Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
They're OK speakers. They're not particularly pleasing sounding because of how clear and projecting they are. They're sometimes compared to Classic Lead 80's because they can be brittle and harsh with the wrong amp. I believe they're popular with Laney and Matamp users. They're also comparable to G12T-75's. I've heard the word hi-fi being used as a descriptive. I'm not sure I agree with that because it depends on the amp, but yeah. What amp are you running?ridingeternity wrote:Any of you doom wizards in here have experience with the celestion seventy 80 12" drivers?

I'm trying to pick up this Gretsch bass. Seems pretty doomy, non?\
I really don't need to spend any more money on gear, really. Need to start saving.
But this just seems too fucking awesome, especially with the Rick pickups.

Acquired today:
150 watt slave. A buck a watt gents! Runs six el34's of which two are currently missing. I'll take it up to the spot tomorrow and give it a workout. If it cranks I'll pay the cost.
Skip, I didn't see Wounded Giant last night but next time I see Bobby I'll ask about that weird trem sound he has at the beginning of that video jam.
Mike, I did see Perfect Bombs! They were great! It took me a minute to catch a groove I'll admit, but once I got into it they were a blast. Yeah Tony drummed for the Falcons and it was the best Electric Falcons I've ever heard. They even had a total trainwreck and Cameron just shouted out 1-2-3-4 and they picked it right back up so perfect that nobody knew it wasn't intentional. Too bad Tony can't just join everybody's band for a night, eh? I won't be in Tacoma today. But there's a slim chance I may hook up with Don in Ballard here in a little bit.
After the show there was a lightning storm. Thunder and lightning are rare even though it rains all the fuckin time. As I walked across the hill I heard chicks literally screaming in fear of the weather. Good thing I brought a jacket!
Also my god these fucking Guild basses! They're both amazing but that first one is to die for

Long day but Chris/Handsome Beard Etch/Death Monkey came over with a friend to tech a meatsmoke preamp (still working on that) and get to jam out on the DA200 and check a few pedals that have not gotten out there yet like the HM2 mod.
but I also drilled out the 3 prototype Marsh Chapel pedals

Good shit everyone. It is like a day of sharing. I have been working on my project most of the day and have been tempted to share but I'm going to hold off till I get it done. I also have The Seer on by Swans. I never really sat down to listen to it or Swans in general, but I heard it was a great record so I picked it up. And damn is it good. I know you guys have posted about it in the past so let me add on that it is great and if you haven't taken a listen then I suggest you do. I have it blaring with the windows open so everyone walking by on the street is getting a taste too.

Sweet score on that Garnet, assuming it works as it should. You missed nothing in Tacoma today, we were terrible. I'm getting kind of over this shit- will likely have a bunch of stuff for sale soon. Fuck.D-Day wrote:HO

True story, I got home and realized that my tone boner had split my pants.
It may have been the 3.5h car ride, but I'm sticking to my first theory.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
Said the same thing in the Synth thread but...
Alright... so Moog Taurus III... are they sweet? worth the money?
a guy wants to trade me one plus cash for my Matamp... not sure what to do. I want to make sure it holds its value if I end up not wanting it, but I'm not using the Matamp all the time right now because it's really more suited for Guitar.
What you guys think?
So many people talk smack on them but I'm not sure if they're just being like that because they're not "original"... you know how that goes...
