Tell me about it. I fucking sold mine like a week before he stopped making them for good

I am extremely happy with the Echobox/Ghost Echo combo, but damn I miss the Ghost Disaster sometimes.

This. My SG Classic has so much balls and clarity that it's stupid. Next order of guitar buisness for me is to ditch my Epi Les Paul (anyone want to buy it?) and get a Les Paul Junior.

But seriously I'm so stoked that you're digging it! It's slightly unusual so I always wonder how the folks who are stuck buying without first trying are going to receive it. Again, I'm so excited to have contributed to your riffingz :0)
Yeah cheers dude! Its killer...literally. It just killed my amp....

Actually, this has been an ongoing issue, but I'm a bit bummed about it, cause now I can't continue my mad fuzz out sesh.
I'm pretty sure its v3, the phase inverter, as it won't light up, and then the power section stays cold as well. Preamps are getting current when switched on (v1 and 2, but funnily enough, no power lamp....crazy russians), so I'm guessing that if v3 is a no show then current won't flow to the power section? Is that right?
I have 3 12ax7s that won't make the magic happen right now, but I'll try it again later and see if it works, cause it did last time.
My gut tells me its not just the tubes but something else...but I was thinking, if I switched to a 12at7 in the pi, it might not overheat as easy with those crazy shit voltages running around?
Halp.
I'm gonna post this over in the thread I started about it as well, so if you wanna answer me there, you tech types, go bananas.

Been digging Russian Circles for some time now. I think I shared this on FB today as well. Good stuff. In other post-genre news, I'm finally gonna get to see Pelican in November. I thought that dream was dead when Laurent left the band, but I'll take what I can get. Might get on some Orange Goblin in September too!

Trying to downsize to fit my new band. Pedalboard(s) is still huge but I need to cut some volume while maintaing headroom and low-end (has a pair of EV's). It's a blue stripe Mark III so I can get most of those IIC+ tones. It's not at all doom but I guess neither is my new project even though it flirts with it once in awhile.

That song is pretty cool. I've been getting into them alot lately. Their drummer is plain out badass. I've been letting my drummer hear it in hopes that he will loosen up and not worry so much about gear. He's talking about buying more cymbals and an extra tom so he can "do more stuff". I keep telling him it ain't all about the gear.

I hooked up the HumX last night at practice and it worked like a charm with no phase issues. I ran one output of my Timefactor into my PS3 and TR2 into my JCM800 and the second output into my Soldano. Sounds huge. I think I got my Dynacomp setup pretty nice too. Found the sweet spot on it being the level knob at 1 o'clock and the sensitivity knob at 9.

Heavy, I have seen pelican many, many times and it is always great even if the sound is a bit muffled depending upon the venue. I haven't seen them recently though with the new guy. I really liked Pelican's early stuff up to City of Echoes. Starting with city it got more riffy then doomy, but city was still doomy enough for me. I wasn't really into the following album or ep though. The new song they just released on myleane sheath though is pretty cool.

Conky, Russian circles is all bad ass players! The drummer is amazing and I am with you there on trying to get my drummer to listen to a bit more of him to learn a thing or two. And he doesn't play a huge kit like you mentioned, he is just able to accomplish a lot with what he has. There is a really good multi part interview with him on youtube:

Brian Cook the bass player was one of the guys I looked to when I was playing bass to learn from and try and play like. Him and Jeff Caxide from Isis were big guys for me when I was playing bass before I joined the band I am in now. Of course they still probably hold a big sway over how I play though.

I've always like those little wicker Mark stacks, so I say go for it.

I really like all of Pelican's stuff, but I never could jive with City of Echoes for whatever reason. I did really like their second to last release. I hope I hear a little bit of Australasia and The Fire stuff though. I remember my friend turning me onto Russian Circles; when he told me there was one guitarist with a looper  All those guys make me value my clean tone, which is why I've been after a boost/fuzz/drive. I do my cleans with a volume pedal, but I can get better ones if I set my amp a little bit cleaner, just a smidge harder to hit the doom riffs.

I remember hearing Caxide's stuff on bass and being real impressed with how he was able I sit in the mix and then jump out in just he right places. Has anybody checked out the Palms stuff with Chino? It's pretty good, even if it does sound a little samey.

So i got that MI Effects Compressor...and tried it out...the idea of having a compressor and gate in one was tempting.

I plugged it in, and it sounded good...the gate worked ok too.

then i decided to test along side my not cheap, but cheaply bought, MXR Custom Comp...and man...this is now the second time I've tested the custom comp against another comp (the last time it was with the Pigtronix PT) and for second time, the Custom Comp kicked ass!

So, needless to say, I'm making use of the 7 day money back policy and sending back the MI Effect...and for the gate, i just bout a Decimator on ebay.

Its a good lesson i guess, if you have a pedal that sounds good...stop trying to replace it!

BTW...anyone who wants to know, the MI Effects kills your highs, and as it doesn't have a tone knob you can add any back. I basically had to turn the treble and tone up all the way on my amp for the MI Effects to sound closer to the MXR.

anyway...carry on with lovely shots of amp...I'm referring to you skip and that Orange pictures, and i HATE whiskey for owning one :grumpy:
