Well, Matt built the Blasteroid as a faithful recreation of the Earth Sound Research Graphic Fuzz. It's a strange circuit. So, you'd have to ask the original circuit designers why it's like that. The other pedals are (I believe) all Matt's original designs.

yeah i got that from reading up on the pedz on his site, i guess i could word this differently though - this triggered my wondering why ANY pedal requires an independent supply despite shared voltage necessities... i'm still an amateur w/ electronics.

It could be that it has a charge pump in it to flip voltage around, the EQD Fuzz Face can't be chained either for that reason

No problem duder. The ARC Gamut has the same thing as well, along with some of the older Dirt Transmitters! That's why!!

Yeah, guys, I'm not sure exactly why the Blasteroid needs isolated power, but if you ask Matt (or any of the other builders building clones of the Graphic Fuzz), I'm sure they can tell you.
