That strat is nice. I was watching Bob Mould on D Letterman rocking out with a strat recently and it made me want one realz bad.

I've never played a Strat I liked but I've heard some great tonez from others with 'em. Jazzmasters and Teles all day long for me as far as Fender is concerned. Oh, and a Bass VI.
That said, my CS Jazzmaster sports a '57 Strat neck. It's pretty thick with jumbo frets. ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAT NECK!
This is the way I feel. I have two Strats, and although I like them, I will never call them my favourites. There are just too many construction details that irk me. For instance, I hate how close the volume knob is to the strings. I'm forever knocking it accidentally. Secondly, the necks are weird. They're the same width as a Telecaster (roughly) yet they feel wider. I also don't like 7.25" radius fretboards. I've gotten used to it by playing my Telecaster with its 9.5" radius neck for extended periods of time, but I still find the Strat difficult for certain lead work, particularly bends and when moving to it from a Les Paul's 10-12" radius. I also find the the bottom part of the guitar to be too curved. When playing the guitar seated, it tends to slip off my lap quite easily. The vibrato bridge isn't my favourite in the world. I'd rather a PRS floating bridge or a hardtail. I dislike where the input jack is unless you have a right-angled cable. As for the five-way blade switch, I'm afraid I'm not mega keen on the sounds I get from my Mexican Strat. The pickups are so soft and 'happy' sounding. I have a set of Rock Monkey Pickups in my Squier Strat that I prefer, but the guitar doesn't resonate like my '93 Mexican Strat that I inherited after my Uncle died.

It's already intonated but maybe only for standard E tuning. If you're like me and prefer heavy strings and a lower tuning then you might have to consider settling for slight discrepancies in your tuning. However, apparently the Krautster was designed for hard rock in mind, so maybe Nik Huber used a bridge that could be detuned and remain in a respectable pitch. It may not be perfect but I'd settle for respectable. I might email them about it.

You can always buy a replacement bridge. Tonepros and pigtail make adjustable wraparound bridges. There are probably some newer ones out there too... those were just the 2 brands that came to mind

This isn't a dig at you or the industry or anything like that, but I personally feel that when you're paying €2500+ for a guitar, it's not unreasonable to expect nothing to need replacing. It should be setup for you, your gauge strings and your preferred action. It should have pickups that you'll never feel you want to change, have tuning gears that will never be superseded, etc. If you have to replace something then the chances are it's not worth €2500 to you. It might be worth it in the end, but when you're in the world of Huber, Trussart, Collings, etc. you have to be strict with yourself and expect and demand nothing but the best. I would never expect that from a Gibson, because we all know they're nothing compared to a Nik Huber, visually, sonically, or functionally, but still.

The sad truth is, you won't find a better new guitar for less than €2500. That's just the price of that kind of quality. However that's not to say lesser guitars aren't worth it. The chances are, unless I start earning a lot more money, that's what I'll be sticking to for the foreseeable future. Second hand Japanese guitars, for example, with a few tweaks and improvements.
I get where you guys are coming from, but why is 2500 the magical number where everything has to be perfect? If I were spending that much on a guitar, I couldn't see an extra $100 on a bridge holding me back from my dream guitar.

That's true. I think it's more of a principle than a fact. Principally, spending €2500 should cover all that you want. In theory life should not demand more from you as a consumer if you're paying that much for a guitar.
Well, it would be closer to €2100 for Americans because you don't have as high a VAT rate/don't have VAT. An EGC would cost around €2300 EURO when you factor in shipping and import duties/VAT, while you'll be paying $2300USD. But we have better health care. Just kidding!
