Really makes the language sound different, especially because that is the most common letter we use in german.

Granted I've only taken a year of German so far, but yeah I see that presenting a massive challenge. I mean there's no way to get around the fact that this prevents you from using more than one verb in a sentence, right?

As far as reading, I've been a total stooge the last few years. Fortunately my ipod and computer both died on me recently so I've been forced to bring a few books with me to pass the time while travelling. I just finished Deadeye Dick and next I think I am going to be pick up Cannery Row where I left off about four months ago.

Anna Karenina was a great read. The movie with Keira Knightley ain't half bad either.

I began The Road twice and somehow I could not get into it quickly enough. Maybe if I saw the movie that would help?

Lot's of grammar forms you have to find a workaround. All indefinite and all but one definite articles for example. Many plural forms, personal pronouns etc. It's really a challenge.
Funny thing is that Perec, the author of the original wrote it to win a bet and the translator, Helmlé, promised to translate it only if he found a publisher, firmly believing he wouldn't, but he did.

Thanks dude! On it now.

Also, Asimov sucks balls to read, but the man is a fucking master of story architecture (fubular-se! Ok, no more dodgey lit puns).
Foundation fucking rules. Hard.
I liken George R.R. Martin to him in that he is a terrible writer, but can do incredible things with plot.

I agree about Asimov (Foundation really is incredible yet badly written) and the A Song of Ice and Fire books (which I also like but the writing is meh), but I think some of George R.R. Martin's other writing is actually pretty good. Armageddon Rag isn't brilliant writing, but in contrast to ASoIaF it's pretty well written.
