Think I've settled on a board (for a while). After much trial and error, this seems to be the right combination of things that actually get used playing with the band. Still, that right corner looks very lonely...

Driving Notion > Bit Mangler > POG2 > Volume > Moog Delay > RV-2 > Correct Sound Mad Hatter*

*This just arrived and is awesome. Fun fact, though: Shipping a painted enclosure to Russia, having the pedal built in it, and having them ship it back takes fucking forever.

what do you think of that driving notion? unique no?

Yeah! Especially for Jesus Lizard-y palm muted parts, it gives a particular sort of edge that I really like.

sooooo.... i was actually really curious what one dood with all the rack stuff and intricate control/routing did with it.

not talking poo about him, but every time i see something huge and starshippy like that when you listen to the albums it's on it's just..... eh? that's... that's it?

Don`t get me wrong people, I`m no super-booper musician. I`m just a real gear junkie, with a MIDI addiction, and a penchant for sharing. I`m kind of a kin to the duffer that owns 15 sets of clubs, but has never played a round under 100 in his life.

Seriously though, when I became enamoured with the electric guitar, it was about the same time that someone turned me on to King Crimson, and soon thereafter guitar synths started to appear. I just became intrigued as to how I could make my guitar sound like anything but. Over the years, the gear piled up, and I`m kind of anal about having stuff sitting around, so if it can a least be readily available to me, it kinda soothes that itch.

Over the last couple of years, the sharing part has really blossomed, since I hate seeing folks lose their mind over gear that may or may not be worth the mind losing (case in point, Schumann PLL). At the same time, it allows me to investigate how certain gear behaves with others, and if anyones is curious, drop me a line, and I`d be happy to share my experiences.

As for the MIDI addiction, that`s come in handy actually. Three years ago, my buddy keyboardist whom I play with, suffered a stroke. It fucked up his left side. With rehab, and surgury to his eye, he`s almost back to normal, but the left hand dexterity is not what it used to be. He`s got major problems with chords. With a MIDI keyboard, and Ableton, I figured out how to let the laptop do the heavy lifting for the left hand, while he can concentrate on the right.

We`re just a couple of garage artists. That`s it. But, we love what we do, and we love being part of a community that shares. In a way, if it wasn`t for all the years I put into that «rig», I would not have amassed much of the knowledge I have today.
:

yessuh! that's why i said i wasna trying to be a dick or talk shit about your approach. i'm a barely a fair musician myself, i was just saying that like 90% of the time i see huge insane rigs with loads of rackmount stuff and crazy control interface setups.... then the music produced with such is... not really.... special? not like it's not good music, just seems like the tones could be achieved with way less gear.... so i'm always curious to hear someone show off what they more they get out of a huge setup like that compared to a full songle pedalboard.

also, meow.

Gotta a dumb question. Would you typically stick a preamp at the end of your pedal chain on in your effects loop?

Here's a pic of what I gots going on right now.

i always do my pre right before the computer/power amp/whatevah.

seems like if normally you play through a head, the pre's the last
stage. i keep it the same since it's the same thing, just component'asized.

So I have mine in the right spot them. It's at the end of my chain. I'm having some volume dips with certain pedal right now. SOOOOOOOO annoying. It's the fucking George L's, I know it. God damn it. I just don't want to pull them apart and reconnect them though because you know I'll move shit soon again. Hahaha. Such a pain in the ass.

Friday's fun:

Image

FF > Harmonic Percolator > OD880 > Green Russian > Goodbye 24 > Spring Chicken > 616D > DM-2 > Small Stone > Infinity

EV-5: reverb
DOD 220: Infinity undo/redo

I keep trying to trim down my dirt/spicerack section...and failing.
The HP, FF and OD > GR all have their own, different sweet spots on the fretboard and killer grit flavs.
MORE FUZZ. MORE DELAYS. MORE, MOOR, MOAR! :animal:

I also need to spend more time with the mini FF; this is my first Si version and so far I'm thinking my preference is Ge.
But it still sounds killer (as expected) and looks super slick with all the charm of the original...in spite of it not being a face...

And if tracking info is correct/on time, there should be some :excellent: additional toys making their way into another updated setup sometime this weekend :snax:
[B/S/T shoutouts] Shortlist: Hollow Earth|Ct5|856|Condor|Thermae|OP-1|half track reel2reel|Prophet6 ... :whoa:
