 Thanks Skip! It sounds ridiculously good with a Kowloon Walled bunny.... FYI.

These are the exact sizes. It's what i sent to emperor to get the roadcase made for it. (road case matches the emperor cabs)

Yeah, my Loucks was #394 so he's been pretty busy.

Also, thanks again for all the help answering questions when I was preparing to order. Always nice to have someone with lots of experience using an amp in an awesome sounding band when the time for questions and gathering opinions arises, very much appreciated! The end result is fantastic, tightened the high gain up a bit, sorta approaching the Skyhammer in highest settings. Amp is mean as fuck but the cleans and clean-ish tones are to die for and it takes pedals as well as any amp I've owned. Much love for the Verellen.

deathmonkey wrote:I don't have a fancy, big-spidery footswitch like they make for them now, it has this jobby (top left corner of the board) with no indicator light, or anything. Old school.

Not sure they're still offering the fancy switches. Mine is just a raw metal one button/one LED enclosure. I woulda LOVED that Big Spider enclosure tho.

Congrats Skip, looks super sweet! How's it sound, had much time to mess around with it yet?

I asked about getting mine in the smaller chassis/shell but that request increased cost and wait time enough for me to say fuck it. The standard shell is a BEAST tho, just enormous!

DM- Yup exact same size enclosure, mines even got the holes for more tubes (mines only 1 12ax7 and 2 6550's) so its gotta be same everything except internals.

HS- I took it to practice last night and its amazing, for 30-45w Class A it was keeping up with the band at like 9pm on the volume, i would have been the loudest in the room at noon. It takes pedals amazingly and has a really rich and present mid range that helps it cut through really well, definitely the most "normal" sounding guitar amp I own at the moment.

Pssh, Yours doesn't have the killer recessed handles like mine! :p

I'm starting to love my emperor again. My GAS pendulum had swung pretty hard to the Redbear side of my rig, but after a retube on the verellen (I put EHX tubes instead of the JJ's) and getting my KWB up and running, I have had so many tone complements the past few shows we've played. last show from a dude who runs a studio that has recorded some of the tones that I used as references for my tone on our newest album.

Needless to say, my verellen boner is pretty raging again.

I know... but you dont gotta remind me.... :grumpy:

Glad to hear its back up and running and sounding like a dream!! Mine's got Tung Sol 6550's in it, and a JJ 12ax7. I'm thinking since theres just one 12ax7 in the pre that I would go for the gold plated tung sol (like 25$ for one 12ax7) when I get the chance. Gotta TGP it up

I have had a Meat Smoke pre for about 8 months and I just got the Meat Smoke head.

I use the pre for guitar in one band running into an '81 Marshall Superbass with a BAT Revelation Superbass and a Bigsound/Smallsound Sparkle motion before it always on. Love it!

Can't wait to get the Meat Smoke head dialed in this week.

What do you guys think of his cabs? Looking for bass. What kinda speakers does he usually use? I might have a good deal on a 4X10. The difference between the Verellen cabs and Emperor for bass?

I've got a Verellen bass cab that Ben and I came up with. He gets his speakers from USSpeakers so you can really get anything you want off the site and he will load it in. My cab is used with both bass and guitar. I ended up originally going with a Delta 12LFC which I ended up putting in a different cab, because it sounds WAY better on bass than guitar, and has a bit of high end roll off but MAJOR thump. Right now my cab has a Delta Pro 12a which I love. It's suitable for both bass and guitar, well rounded, clear, dynamic, and can handle a TON of power.

Old picture, but you get the point. It's an oversized 1x12:

I do not own his gear but Mr Ben Verellen has one of the most laser accurate and hardest hitting high fives in the whole northwest.

Also I am completely shocked by this tale of bad customer service a page or two back. SHOCKED I tell you. He's pretty much the master of that stuff.
