anytime i have time that's otherwise underused. when i need to kill some time. when i go to the library to hang out. when i spot a book at someone's house, a garagesale, or a used bookstore which piques my interest. when i'm stuck in a waiting room, an airport, a bus/commuter train, or especially on a long airplane flight. i once spent an entire flight from San Francisco re-reading The Rise And Fall Of The Third Reich, which was the only book i knew of which was long enough to keep me busy on a nine hour flight with a plane change at JFK.
