that's unpossible, makes me dizzy

but honestly, i'd appreciate just about any other finish that those three :( if i bought the black one, i'd have to swap the pickguard for a black one, because white on black sucks
if i bought the white one, i'd have to swap the pickguard for a white one because tortoise on white sucks
and i don't like 3TS pretty much on anything

still, this is an amazing achievement :!!!: (never gonna buy one but that's not the main point here)

(also: I still hope Squier releases a baritone jag or something like that... both HH and the oldschool SC version for them Thrice toanz  )

I love all of those finishes. Obviously not a fan of white pickguard on black if you've seen my other guitars, but that can be fixed. Really love the white though. Love white offsets.
Probably not going to grab one for a while since I just got a Mustang Bass last month but I'll definitely have my eye on these.

Curious about where people are going to get strings for the VIs though...

I think with the hype these will bring, more string companies will jump on it. Maybe the stock strings will be fine until that happens.

So I have an important question, if heavy strings are good, like what gauge would SRV use on his Bass VI? Like high e .666 or what?

My pedalboard costs approximately 191 Metal Zones.

Holy Schnikes wrote:I need to email DR with this info, get their asses into motion on producing strings! Fender recently discontinued their Bass VI set (25-95). That leaves only D'addario (24-84) and La Bella who has one stainless roundwound set (25-95) and another set of flats. That's it and you can't just throw normal bass strings on it cuz it's a short 30' scale and uses Gotoh-style guitar tuners so string length and taper is all important.

Again, if you have or will have a VI and like nickel plated rounds, check La Bellas HRS custom sets. They come in a HUGE variety of gauges and you can specify the instrument they'll be installed on, making sure La Bella crafts them to the proper length for a Bass VI. Also, they get 'em made and shipped so quickly for not much money at all, kinda hard to believe.

http://www.labella.com/products/hrs-custom/

I finally found the right set for my setup after some experimentation, went with (25-106) for Dstan tuning and they feel fantastic and required zero modification to install. I ordered 3 sets the other day for around $50, less money than I usually dropped on 2 sets for my old 4-string bass, such a bargain! Was worried about the nut and the trem string through/tailpiece section requiring alteration but everything was good to go. :thumb:

Also, Bass Strings Online stocks both the LaBella stainless steel rounds and flats for Bass VI but the custom HRS sets are excellent. :thumb:

Maybe someone should nudge Circle K and see if they'd consider making a bass vi set.

Forgot to mention Circle K. Pretty sure they have one available now days or they'll do one up custom iirc. It was kinda pricey when I checked while back tho...
