I was assuming the date there (second of august) was the release date. That does seem very soon though for something that's just been announced so maybe it's just a random date for some reason.

Yeah. Expected delivery date is August 2nd.
I hope that is true. Or they get it sooner. Just not later... please.

I need to email DR with this info, get their asses into motion on producing strings! Fender recently discontinued their Bass VI set (25-95). That leaves only D'addario (24-84) and La Bella who has one stainless roundwound set (25-95) and another set of flats. That's it and you can't just throw normal bass strings on it cuz it's a short 30' scale and uses Gotoh-style guitar tuners so string length and taper is all important.

Again, if you have or will have a VI and like nickel plated rounds, check La Bellas HRS custom sets. They come in a HUGE variety of gauges and you can specify the instrument they'll be installed on, making sure La Bella crafts them to the proper length for a Bass VI. Also, they get 'em made and shipped so quickly for not much money at all, kinda hard to believe.

I finally found the right set for my setup after some experimentation, went with (25-106) for Dstan tuning and they feel fantastic and required zero modification to install. I ordered 3 sets the other day for around $50, less money than I usually dropped on 2 sets for my old 4-string bass, such a bargain! Was worried about the nut and the trem string through/tailpiece section requiring alteration but everything was good to go. :thumb:

Seems like an odd move from Fender to discontinue their bass vi strings around the time they finally released two reasonably priced versions. :wha?:

I know right, WTF?!?

My CS shipped with that Fender set as do the Pawn Shops but they're not available for general purchase. The set isn't that great anyway, tight as fuck in E standard but too loose to downtune. The custom sets work out so much better for less money. :thumb:

I had nickels on my old tele once.. sounded horribly bright and clank-y. I think those were rotosounds... worst strings ever. Is that the case here too? Can you post the link to the La Bella stainless roundwound set? I can't seem to find it on their website.
Also- let's bombard DR with e-mails to make Bass VI strings...

Nah man, the nickel plated is a way warmer sound than the stainless which is very bright imo, they sound fantastic. :thumb:

I will def bombard DR though. I used to use DR Low Riders on my 4 string bass and same deal, the stainless were bright while the nickel plated gave a warmer tone and higher tension. I agree though, Rotosounds are some SUPER bright strings.

Here's the La Bella stainless Bass VI rounds. They also have the flats on this site:

They are really great, around $20-25 a set depending on gauge selection and ready in a week or so. Also, $10 to Austria is super solid as CONUS shipping is only a few bucks less. :thumb:

I would be all over this like bread on rye or shit on toast.

I kind of wish it just had dots instead of blocks though but for that price I ain't complaining!

And here I am, thinking I'm smart having an Agile instead of a Fender. Well...might need a backup.
