hehe, those sorts of jokes are well-deserved in Hong Kong, but there is another side to these things here too. The benefits of weekly massage are amazing. It takes a while to get used to it but the old men here can break down your muscles in ways you never really imagined before (insert buttsex joke here). It's especially wonderful as a musician, they rub between your finger joints and between your tarsals a little and all around the wrist cuff, carefully and firmly rotating the big bundle of fibers on the inside of the forearm over and letting those vessels and nerves really breathe. You won't want to ever stop after you get used to it; luckily it's only ~$12 USD an hour, so there's really no reason not to. If you live in a city with a Chinatown you should check it out, don't go to massage parlors, but go talk to people running herbal medicine shops if they know where you can get a proper Buddhist medicinal massage. Technically they're not all Buddhist but it may help the person you ask understand that you're not looking for a jackshack but a proper medicinal massage. Should be lots cheaper (and lots healthier, but less "fun") than even a traditional massage given by a young girl. Sometimes women are also masters but they'll dress plainly and usually be rather old...

my grrL's gone so often it's the most human contact i get on a regular basis.

out here it runs $40-$60 an hour for a massage at a place that's not trying to touch your peen. the one i go to is $45 an hour, i tip $15. SO worth it for $60 every few weeks.

i've had a bunch of different styles, and Qui Gong always feels the best to me if done right.

oh man, i have the WORST shoulder tension. i have huge knots. i really need a good meat rub soon. i got the girl and a full spa day for our anniversary this last year and we both felt like euphoric jello afterwards. so relaxing and my back and arms felt amazing for like a week.

Never had one, and never will. Just thinking about it makes me so uncomfortable that I get squirmy. I accept that this is an irrational phobia, and I'm comfortable with that. Probably due to my horrifically disgustingly awful body image issues.

ryan, you should try proper chinese or japanese massage. Those dudes will break down your tension, I guarantee it. It can be difficult at first though, the deep tissue stuff really can hurt a bit until you get used to it. It's not a problem though, just tell the guy to go softer and he'll humor you for awhile, then you have to remind him again. The first time I got one in Shanghai (for $3 from a blind man) I was absolutely destroyed and could barely walk afterward. But it was the start of something truly amazing!
