what's the name of the anarchist community in Copenhagen that was there for decades, Kristianstad or something like that? the folks that occupied the urban-redevelopment zone and made it an arts commune?

whoever was asking what part of the D the hipsters in detropia were living in, pretty sure that was midtown, just north of downtown
but ir eally dont spend much time there. any time there. i dont get within 8.5 miles of city center
but yeah finally saw detropia, pretty good watch, albeit depressing. but not just for detroit residents. it should be depressing for every american who gives a shit about the future of this country

i'm afraid--by which i mean "i fear" rather than "i conclude"--that Detroit may not be the object lesson it should be of everything not to do, but rather an omen of the rest of America's future. when all the jobs have been outsourced, what's everybody ELSE in the country going to do? we're already dealing with what is in esse a semi-permanent 10%+ unemployment rate, and it's not gonna get any better when China forecloses.

Also, lots of great artists came from Michigan. Stevie Wonder is from Saginaw, Jack White came from Detroit, as did Alice Cooper and Ted Nugent. Hell, Motown was born and made great in Detroit. Sadly, ICP and Madonna are also from here, so yeah...

the 90s were pretty bad for michigan music. the only 2 bands i can remember out of MI were sponge (detroit 1 hit wonder) and the verve pipe (kalamazoo 1.5 hit wonder)
i know a dude who had a band in southwest MI. he was real tight with the verve pipe dudes back in the mid 90s when they were on 120 minutes and shit like that. the dudes band ended up getting signed to atlantic and unceremoniously dropped after one record. long time ago. it was a big lesson to the young ass kid i was at the time that "getting signed" is not a solution to life's problems. the dude ended up going back to work for the same music store he worked for before his band got signed to atlantic.
grand funk railroad also from MI - flint specifically
