Got a second Greta yesterday. Love that amp. With the internal speaker you get a super nice fuzz sound at a pretty low volume that is, at least for me, fun to play. With an external cab that thing really rocks out in a pretty good volume. Awesome! Love this amps. And i only paid 119.- EUR for the second one.

yes. i have a fairly small list of amps i really love, and i couldn't use about 75% of the stuff that's out there because it doesn't fit what i do. i like AC30s but AC15s leave me cold; i love Twins and Princetons but cannot get a thing from a Deluxe Reverb, ancient or modern. meanwhile i have way more pedal dirt than i can even use at the moment, and only one fuzz cost more than $250 which is what i paid for my Kalamazoo.

It's interesting that you love the Princeton but not the Deluxe Reverbs. I always imagined they were pretty similar. I don't think I've ever played a Princeton.

See, I do entertain the idea of getting an amp that does like...distortion. And, the V4 cranked sounded great. But, with it set kinda clean, and the master up, it was way more grin inducing to turn on a fuzz. And, then, my PA-135 is pretty much clean with 10 on the gain and master, and that going into an 8x10 pushes bricks of air. It's kinda this line of thinking that's got me wanting to get an SVT for guitar.

I still believe more in amp dirt. I'm just a tube snob. More toob pedlolz, yo!

I feel pretty much the same about amp distortion but I've found a couple in the Dwarvenaut and Loucks where the gain is voiced perfectly, a little old school sounding yet thick and crushing, almost fuzzy with increased clarity. That said, I generally run both amps loud with just a little breakup. Gives 'em nice character, both clean up well with guitar volume adjustment, and pedals hit so much harder this way. I'm def after clean headroom with any amp but the gain has to be available to dial things to taste. The results I hear with fuzz into a crystal clear clean channel isn't always the best, both the sound and feel seem off to me so I've always steered clear. The Dunwich is the closest I've come and it packs plenty of grit if need be.

You see, that description sounds perfect, but I've yet to hear a Verellen clip I fell in love with. I know it's just an audio clip, but it's all I have to go by, sadly. I'm keen to see what Skip sounds like playing through a Skyhammer preamp. I wouldn't be able to afford a full-blown Verellen for another year, but if the preamp sounds good then I might save off on buying a few 'normal' dirt pedals and pick up a the Skyhammer preamp.

I'm the same as you: I like a little grind to my cleans. That's what is scaring me a little about the Simms-Watts. I did say that I want a pure clean amp, but I still have reservations. It's like buying a guitar with one pickup. I generally prefer the sounds of a bridge pickup, either a single coil, P90, or humbucker, but I still feel cautious buying one, as if I can't live with the cost of buying a product that only does one thing, despite it doing it really well.

So the Atoner seems like a lot to wrap one's head around; as I expected and it doesn't seem as expressive as I had hoped. Utter Stutter doesn't do much to it.

There are some timpots in the circuit. I'll have to figure out what they do.
