i prefer 200 watts on the form of two 100 watt amps. unfortunately i recently had to sell one of my marshalls and am having to make do with only one little 100 watt amp. the jmp sounds fucking killer though, so i'm pretty happy and hopefully soon will be able to start saving pennies to get another head.

This is the only guitar forum where 100 watts is considered "little".

It's so strange, that I have an inferiority complex about a 120 watt amp and a 4x12 with 103 db@1w speakers

I'd rather play 2-100 watt heads that were a little different from each other to blend their qualities together but if I needed the extra headroom I'd probably just skip all the way up to 300 or 400 but so much depends on the amp design that the wattage is really secondary.

I have 260 watts between two amps at the moment.

I am playing bass only nowadays though, need more clean power.

If I was playing guitar, I'd probably be going overboard.

425 watts between 2. :yay:

And they rarely get turned above 4 :picard: but I've got clean headroom for months.

both of my heads together don't even equal up to the power of an SVT... something's wrong there! haha.

I can't wait to join the club.

Ever since I tried my buddies DR103 on bass, I have wanted a DR201 so bad. THE platform for pedals.

Your rig is friggin' nuts Ancient. I want to see your band.

See what I mean? 120 watts is fucking loud, enough to damage your hearing loud, but I feel like a fucking pussy for only having enough watts to smash a medium club to death

Skip and Nick, could you have made an amp that had the same clean headroom with 100 watts based on the fact that Skip leaves the volume on 4? I'm a bit tipsy and about to fall asleep so that question might be a bit cryptic. I think you know what I'm trying to get at.

I'm very seriously thinking about selling my 200 w amp. Its awesome, but the sunn took its place and I have a dearth of amps and need funds for band merch, van parts etc. It also uses those out of production tubes so i'd rather preserve them. Silly attitude, I know. Amps are meant to be played!
