Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
Cheers man. Yeah, because there just isn't that much old gear floating around and it was way too expensive when people bought it the first time, even old shit tends to be expensive. Also, as there has been a shift in thinking to the whole "old gear gets me cred and tone" school of philosophy, people have been importing shit and placing the cost of shipping onto the buyer, as well as pricing old shit they do happen to find on the cheap locally comparatively with items that incur these costs. Its brutal, and there's no real way to avoid it. Occasionally though, you get a cracker bargain. A couple of weeks ago i missed out on an orange 4x12 going for about $650 oz, because the dude couldn't be fucked freighting it from Newcastle.
That pissed me off, but it does show that bargains do pop up.

Probably not for you guys but its bargain city down here. We are at about 92c to the U$D (for now) and those things retail in shops here for an rrp of AU$1799 and get "discounted" to AU$1350 or so.
So that's what I'm dealing with.
Argh! Wish big business would tour here. Saw the Melvins with those guys though. Fucking killer.

Wiz, you may want to get checked for Crohn's disease and IBS too. Sometimes those flares can really kick your ass. Most people don't expect the symptoms to vary as much as they can. Hope you feel better and that it isn't too serious!
In other news, my siblings birthday is soon; and for the first time, I've gotten them REAL gifts! My sis has been asking me for recommendations for new music recently, and since I am a recent purveyor of physical CDs, I bought her a few LPs: Pelican's "The Fire in Our Throats Will Beckon the Thaw", Mamiffer's "Hirror Enniffer" and Explosions in the Sky's "How Strange Innocence". She also likes to "steal" my old T shirts, so I think I'm going to give her my old Pelican shirt, as I found a What We All Come to Need era one after much searching. My brother, on the other hand is a bit harder to buy for, but I think I've got him covered as well: He's always wanted one of those "Smokin' Jesus" Down shirts, so I found him one of those; he's also into reading existential books and stuff like "The Meditations of Marcus Aurelius", so I'm giving him this book by James Keenan called "Moral Wisdom" that I had to read for an Ethics class.
I never quite got giving gifts until this year; now I think I understand. I haven't been this excited since I was little and it was Christmas eve!

I picked up the new cab today. IT IS VERY HEAVY. Why did I put the jam room on the second floor?
It sounds awesome, I may swap out the speakers to be more in line with what my amps want though.
Sunn cabs look sick. Congrats, man. HNCD!

Know the feeling, bro. Gear here is really expensive as well, both new and second-hand. I do keep my eye out every day for the perfect score. There is an OR120 for €700 about a 2hr drive from me, but I need the money for the Dunwich and parts for my Telecaster.
The Wood Wizard wrote:So turns out my body is seemingly burning fuel too fast and also overheating and exhausting itself. Ive been getting really sick about once a month and feel awful inbetween flareups too, dont feel like adding too many details. But last night it hit me again before my lady came over. she made me drink a TON of electrolyte water and rubbed me down with a cold washcloth and I felt better within a few hours. Usually im up all night having my guts come out. (I repayed her very well for this after I got my energy back of course) But yeah I guess i need a gatorade, a gallon of water, douse myself in hose water all day at work and eat 3 times as much food as I usually intake. Shes awesome.
Might also be a thyroid problem too, hopefully gunna work on getting some insurance so I can finally get looked at. If i can start feeling better itll be time to start working out for real. im gunna get so fucking buff you dont even know.
Are there any ripped doom guys? is there a danzig of the doom world?
vidret wrote:Iommic Pope wrote:Vid, you got a bike? Cool. I wish I was cool. And buff.
YEAH BUDDEH
also, sweet ritual/hogs day
if there's a thyroid problem you need medical help with that, most probably. otherwise there are things you can do to eat calorie-dense food without having to eat tons of it to get what you need.
hit me up with a PM if you got specific questions about it broheim!
That is a fucking STUNNER. Be safe, mate.
Also, listen to vidret. He knows his shit.

Ha, that's awesome, the part about your girlfriend, that is.
And yeah, when you're passing out and can't move, there is definitely something wrong. But it could actually be a bug. I've been like that before. It was basically the flu. I hate when people tell me "oh, I've got the flu" and all they're doing is blowing their nose every ten minutes. That's not the fucking flu you pussy! That's a fucking sniffle. If you had the flu then you'd be on the floor crying your eyes out in agony. Man up.
CaptainBoxman wrote:Anyone use a JCM 800 Super Bass? Someone's offering me a trade for my OTR120.
I've not played one officially but I really want to. They seem like sweet amps that go for great prices because they're not as desirable and 'mojo-ified' as a JCM800 Super Lead or a Plexi Super Bass. Apparently the midrange knob is super fun to tweak and mess with. They don't have the gain range of a Super Lead 800, but they aren't as warm as a thick as a real Super Bass Plexi. This is all based on the extensive reading I've done over the last few months. How much is he selling the 800 for?

It's a straight swap. I want it because it's a solid pedal platform

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
That it should be. A straight swap sounds about right, though I'd say your Orange is more commonly sought after while the JCM800 Super Bass is harder to find.

Yeah, I can't speak for either amp as I have not owned them, but my perception would be that you might be losing a little financially and gaining an amp that is better suited for what you want it to do.

I agree with this 100%. I always throw some goodies in with my stuff and it is nice to see other stuff. My son took over the Hotwheels car you put in there too.
