I don't think the discount comes out of the builder's cut of the sale. It should come out of Prymaxe's. It's part of their business model.

Re: I love Prymaxe Vintage on the realz
Like everybody else, I love the constant sales at Prymaxe and def take advantage. Service has always been pretty good but it's recently come to my attention that Cory is a total douche to his employees and dealers alike. I know many dealers that feel the constant sales are actually undercutting the value of the brand they've worked hard to build but he apparently doesn't give a shit. Dude thinks he's way too cool for school, you're either onboard or he won't deal with you. All these stories from multiple builders I consider friends and honest hardworking guys really turns me off on Prymaxe but those savings are hard to pass up.
And if anyone's noticed the reduced sales, 12-13% off instead of the standard 15%, that's because Cory is most likely trying to make up ground for giving shit away at the lowest prices year round, launching an assault on pretty much every boutique dealer with his business practices.
OK, rant over now.
Ooohhh, one last thing. It's been pointed out that he looks exactly like Jersey Shore Pee Wee Herman which is very accurate haha. Not a good look, the douche is strong with this one.

Re: I love Prymaxe Vintage on the realz
Just my 2 cents, but I've had nothing but clean transactions and good customer service with them
Everytime I visit the store I'm treated like a person and end up chatting with someone about whatever for a good 20 mins.
The sales I always saw as cool because of the tax they throw in at the end.
I figured the builders aren't being hurt by such sales but
I'm not trying to invalidate anything that's been said about the owner or anyone affiliated with them, but I try not to bash other people based on speculation from others and rather my own experiences
Of course there are exceptions
All talk aside, it sucks the way they shipped your pedz jwar, I hope everything gets sorted out.

Re: I love Prymaxe Vintage on the realz
Yeah, I've had great dealings with Prymaxe for the most part too and I've bought a buncha shit, def not saying otherwise. I kinda hate that they just throw pedals in shipping bags now days (to save $ I guess?) cuz I've had a few damaged recently but they replaced 'em no problem so all was well.
I've just heard some things about the way the guy does business from reputable sources and it would certainly turn anyone off. Maybe he'll adjust his attitude/outlook in the future but probably not.
Pair that with the fact I've been dealing with some true assholes at work today and the mini-Prymaxe rant was inevitable.

I'v heard the same things.
Each time I received an email from them, I think it's spam (anoying).
And when you want to sell something in the B/S/T, you always have to think about the Prymaxe price.

Yeah, they used standard Priority shipping boxes until recently, then it was bags. I got some Basic Audio stuff from them recently and it was literally pedals thrown in a bag, no bubble wrap, no boxes of any sort, just pedals clanging together all the way to St.L. Needless to say, an exchange was necessary and they shipped replacements in the same fashion but they somehow avoided damage that second go around.

I feel ya sylnau. No need for Prymaxe emails as they're literally ALWAYS having a sale. Maybe a day or two with a break, then it's back on.
And yeah, it def affects my B/S/T negotiations of course, gotta reduce things even more to compete. Fuckers. You don't hear me complaining about the discounts when I buy new from them tho, just when I have to sell haha.

Yep, same here, all the way to The Netherlands, came in a bubble wrap envelope, the mini came in it's box though and the deluxe pitch pirate in bubble wrap in it's paper bag but still I expected a box to cover it all and not an envelope.

good deals with: the_brow, phantasmagorovich, alexsga, DarkAxel, goroth, The Wood Wizard, Tendollarcat, vbps, monkeydancer, intothegroove, Brobee

Re: I love Prymaxe Vintage on the realz
I thought builders sold stuff at the price they want to sell to dealers (lower than direct or from a dealer because dealers buy larger quantities). And then the dealer with whatever sales they have, take the loss of profit. Can a distributor buy from a supplier for less because they want to have a sale? That doesn't seem right.
If anything, I would think that it would help everyone. Builders selling more pedals to prymaxe, prymaxe selling more pedals to customers (but at a lower cost than "new" cost). Everyone is selling more pedals. Everyone is making more money. I kinda understand the supplier feeling that their products are less valuable but who cares? I don't think money = a good pedal. Money = good quality/more features. A lot of my favorite pedals are simple, good sounding, and ~$100 used. You charge what you charge as a builder and then distributor bumps up the cost a little bit to stay in business. I don't get it.
besides the owner/douche thing

I thought the same thing until someone laid out the facts.
Several builders want no part of the constant Prymaxe sales, they want their pedals to be sold for MAP (otherwise they'd make that MAP 15% less). They request their stuff goes on the product exemption list but Cory won't allow that. You deal with his business plan or you gtfo basically.
Don't get me wrong, these builders are down with occasional and seasonal sales but overall, Prymaxe alone is selling more pedals all while crushing other dealers and direct sales which equals less sales and a slower market in the long run....
PGS has some shady policies too but they at least have great advertisement with video demos and such.

jwar: PAYPAL CLAIM. Do it. Fuck 'em.
I've had good and bad dealings with Prymaxe, but I keep going back. The sales are too alluring, though I fundamentally agree with the idea of undercutting builders. There is a discussion about this very topic going on at TGP right now. A couple builders all but say this is why they folded up their tents with dealers, Prymaxe likely being one.

yeah i see it, now. Once you bolded "constant" lol. Everybody just wants to make money. Not saying that as excuse for anything, as a reason
I checked out the tgp thread and researched what Mr. Catalinbread was talking about.
This was pretty much his point
