Worst record I've ever purchased:

Fastcore/powerviolence friends, do you have any Fuck on the Beach records? I'm looking for some of their splits and will pay big monies. I'm really interested in their splits with Carcass Grinder, Flächenbrand, Godstomper, Matka Teresa, and Yacøpsæ.

Reviving this thread!
I'm currently in the process of restoring an old Motorola SK30W. I'm expecting a new stylus in the mail this week so I can finally play some records out of it. It has a tape input, so I plugged my mp3 player into it and it sounds awesome! Also, ridiculously loud. I just took some of it apart so I could clean the pots and everything seems to be working amazingly!
I'll get a picture of it soon. I'm pretty excited about getting it back into full working condition! If all goes well, I'd like to pass this down to my kids someday.

I've really had to slow down my record buying as bills pile up (fucking cold-ass Minnesota) but I recently scored Bloodbath's Resurrection Through Carnage on wax and that shit is amazing, also the most expensive single record I've ever purchased.
My collection is pretty modest at around 50-60 records.

I have a modest collection. Probably only around 30 albums?
I sample stuff occasionally, so my searching is equal parts "I want this specifically", and "I'm just going to grab this for the lulz". A lot of digging goes on, kind of nice though, as it leads to plently of discovery.
Recently, I've been on the hunt for entries from the Table of the Elements series, basically a bunch of experimental guitarists recording EP's on colored vinyl for the world to hear. I already had Lee Ronaldo's entry, and recently I got ahold of Stephen O'Malley's entry after moths of digging!
Heres a stock image for reference.

Is that a good album? I see it all the freaking time and have never looked into it at all.Wes Mantooth wrote:Sunbather!
I got my stylus today, but the record player itself must have some cold joints or bad wires since it will cut in and out only when playing records. But that's fine, since it means I get to fix it up!
First album I played out of it Was Fly by Night by Rush

Sunbather got my non-metal listening friends to actually enjoy some black metal. I'm a huge fan and definitely would say it is black metal (w/ a little shoegazey feel) but certainly not your typical KVLT/TRV Norwegian Black Metal. I'd highly recommend giving it a shot.

I have really mixed feeling about Sunbather. The onslaught of sound is beautiful, but the drums being mixed so loud is really distracting.
Still pretty great.

True, I suppose I've trained myself to suppress them. I just don't get the way some producers think, especially when mixing drums and vocals in metalfoomanfat wrote:I have really mixed feeling about Sunbather.
