Our space sucks, it constantly floods, had fucked up 2 of our amps, mold has hit some of our speakers and I'm in the process of delicately cleaning/airing them to prevent speaker destruction.
We need a new place badly. HAs anyone had any luck with storage units, my guess with the dilemmas are:
Actually being allowed to practice in them
Electricity
Climate Control
We are pretty desperate but can't find another band to help split warehouse space costs.

Dude my buddies used to have a storage practice space and it was killer. They built a wall in it to make two rooms and put an ac in there with couches and a tv. They asked the owner first and he was cool with it. We used to get high, play death metal, and play nba street.

I knew a guy who did something similar. He'd spend all his regular rent money on a big space with electricity and heating/cooling, and just sleep on friends' couches when he needed to. He got this huge ass space and built a second-story loft with a ladder where he had his recording computer and and a couch. He put his amps and drums on the floor below and used trash plexiglass and dividers to break the sound. He found used carpet to mount to the walls to deaden the sound. It was awesome.
Nowadays, all the storage unit managers around these parts are bigger assholes and don't want bands in them.

It's a great idea! And there usually aren't houses around, so no noise complaints...

I have and probably will again since we still have a unit. With a little work they can be nice. Just make sure you get 10x20 at least anything smaller is painful.
