I can't believe how unprofessional and rude the Luck Duck builder was. I'll be telling everyone I know to avoid them.

It's a shame, because apart from the constant loud and unusable whine that the pedal makes, it actually sounds like it could have been cool.

Man, this, and that promo company thing; I'm starting to get the idea that a lot of people think it's perfectly acceptable to have something removed from a public forum because they don't like it. The way the music and movie industry and governments make Google take stuff out of search results and off of youtube only encourages the idea that you can coerce authority to shut people up. A refund minus 30 percent is a joke. You stand behind your shit or you don't.

I don't know everything that went on here, but it sounds like Behndy got fucked, and when that happens to people, they take it to message boards. We host user-generated content. I will not spend my days deleting every thread that offends businesses that, it seems like, were asking for it anyway. What's been going on this month with guys with businesses wanting to edit this forum?

My comments in this thread are my personal feelings, as an ILF participant, not as an admin, not in any official ILF capacity. 99% of the time, I don't comment on any threads that might be seen as "bashing a builder:" as a builder, I want to stay out of the fray, and way out of murky customer service issues. I know that you can't please everyone, and I don't want builders to get bashed here over every petty, minor customer service issue (because occasionally, they do happen)...but when someone gets screwed (example: pedal doesn't work, no refund is offered, refund policy is changed), and they've exhausted all avenues of communication with the builder, and they come with pics/vids/emails, I'm not censoring them...this is a forum, and this is the internet; I think this is how both are supposed to work. And so my comments here reflect my personal opinion; despite my position on the forum, I'd like to be able to comment as just another user here.]

I stated this on Talkbass, but want to hear as well. Brian from SS/BS and Tom both have the absolute best customer service of any builders I've met. Seriously. Want to throw Ryan from Dr. Scientist in that hat too. All these guys go above and beyond!

So this kind of crap is unacceptable. This guy is a dick and should just say he's sorry and issue a refund. What's the big damn deal???

I would have thought that he would have let this one slip through his "policy" eventually to at least slow the shitstorm that was to come. I mean he can't completely suck if he's made pedals that have given his company a name for itself. I'd heard of Luck Duck before this thread. It's a poor choice for him.

I get what's he's saying and all with his return policy, but he didn't even have a policy apparently before Ben contacted him.

There are other builders out there that have disclaimers on their sites about not taking returns. I don't buy from them. If I want their product I buy it second hand or from Prymaxe or someone like that. That way I know I can return it if I'm not satisfied.

This comes down to a defective unit though. It's obviously defective IC chip or something that's causing it to bled through like that. Like I mentioned before, my Ugly Face has some bled through but it's not NEARLY as bad as that. There are ways to correct that too. I was just too lazy and it sounds like this is the case with this builder.

Not sure how things work in the US but I am pretty sire in Ireland that if an item is defective you are entitled to a full refund. Try get someone in the know to drop some legalese on his ass regarding consumer rights.

Sounds like a fool if he thinks that pedal is acceptable. You ordered a sample rate reducer, not an oscillator.

SO MANY GOOD BUILDERS OUT THERE. Thom and Ryan and BriBri and Matt W&C and Matt IdiotBox and Danno The Etcher and..... fuck. there's just SO MANY.

you guys know me, i don't talk shit about people or builders. the few times i've had deals with pedals turn out where i wasn't super happy (which is maybe 2 times?) it wasn't a big deal. just a difference of expectation or whatever. hell, even with the Lyons thing, i don't think he's a bad guy. i think he just got caught up. there's stuff it would have been better if he did a little different, but he also refunded my money RIGHT away, and that was around $350 not $150. but this fucking Luck Duck guy....... guh.

lol. that's something that was in the email mess with me and him. i was super polite the first mail, he kinda annoyed me when he gave me a lecture on why all SRR's are like this and the no refund thing so i wasn't the nicest the second email, but the harshest things i said were "i was being polite before, this pedal is HORRIBLE" and something like, "this isn't a threat, but i do spend a LOT of time on forums that are really your target audience. i'm going to have to share how this went down"..... then in his PayPal claim he talked about how i threatened to harm his business. silly doucher.

i don't get it either. you should take care of someone that buys a useless pedal from you ANYways, that's just.... that's like the bare minimum of selling pedals direct. but i was trying to point out that even if you're an amoral jackass, the bad press and word of mouth CAN'T be worth more than the refund of one pedal.
