It's a sample rate reducer, which similar to a bit crusher, but a little different. Bit crushers are digital, SRRs are analog. If I'm not mistaken, I think they do it with a sample-and-hold circuit, with the sample rate up in the audio range, so it creates a carrier signal, similar to a ring mod.

what Chiefy said. it's what you change the pitch of when you play with the rez knob. so, when mines is turned on, the carrier is ALWAYS there. hella loud. click = huge annoying whine. that... i can tune... but still. fucking useless.

does yours not make that much noise when it's turned on and you're not playing?

That's weird. Maybe I can make a video of mine? What should I do? I made a demo of me playing it on guitar which I think you've seen. What should I do? I'm also thinking it might help that my pedal is near the end in my chain

after trying out some stuff I found exactly what you're talking about. Mine has the hum whether or not the pedal is on. it's not really loud, but I do notice it. I always assumed the noise was from running 14 pedals at once, but it's actually just this pedal. The noise is exactly the same playing with it and the rest of my pedals or just this one pedal. the sound disappears when I'm running just the guitar.
I can also "tune" the pitch of the hum and the timbre with the bit and res knobs respectively. a silly feature indeed

huh. your's doesn't seem near as loud as mine when you're not playing. it's still there, but mine is just RARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. i tried it in the middle of the chain where i want it, just it into my preamp, on the Ciokolate, on it's own power supply. and when i sent the little audio clip to Duck Fuck dooder he said that's how it's s'posed to sound.

beats me dude. mine isn't the standard one tho. someone on here custom ordered it to have a clean blend, I bought it second hand.
also it's a lot more noticeable on my new amp, different from the one I used in that video.

Chetz - yahp. Bit was soooooooooooo GOOD. except for the little drop. was just too noticeable at band volumes.
